Seriously.....calm down. It's a movie. Do I think it's bollocks that TF lost out to Golden Compass? Yes. But really, Transformers doesn't need an oscar to make people know it was a fantastic movie (for special effects anyway, not so much plotwise). It made over $700 million dollars across the world, GP made far, FAR less than that. While it would've been nice for ILM to get recognized by the academy, I had my doubts.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHN! Bleh, guess it's kinda expected and had my hopes too high.
Considering the categories, no surprises here. Now if the Academy flipped and decided to give TF a Best Picture nom, then that would be a surprise. But this is all technical stuff: visuals, 3D designs, sound effects... all aspects TF featured.
The academy awards vote for shit that everyone expects not to win so that they can say that they are more "cultured" than the rest of us, that's why obvious winners never win. Transformers was one of the first movies where the CG didn't look like CG and it lost to this peice of obvious CG crap... but why, because we all expected Transformers to win, so they choose the underdog because it is less Holliwoody.
oh come on, are you serious? Hoping a movie doesn't come out so that TF won't have competition . Seriously bro, it won't matter. IT's the academy awards... a movie with no special effects will win over TF because it's what everyone expects. I almost hate to say this, but you want an award where TFs will take everything.. Try the MTV awards. I may not like MTV, but they go with what the general public thinks... and last I checked, these movies were made for the general public, not a bunch of stuck up suits who vote for movies that aren't as good just to make themselves look cultured and intelligent.
There was Sound Editing in Bourne? I didn't notice it, because I was too busy throwing up from the shakey cam. I swear, that movie was a thousand times worse than Cloverfield, which was SUPPOSED to look like that. Well a great big HUG YOU to the Academy. You wouldn't know good effects if they came up and freaken stepped on you. I don't mind the sound effect losses so much, but really, that loss to visuals was just freaken ratarded. The Academy isn't about the visual medium, it's about 'Who Do we Like and who do we Hate.' Doesn't the defeat the entire purpose of what it's supposed to be there for? Well, sucks to be them. I hope a giant robot comes by and slaughters the lot of them. I'm sure Bonecrusher will be happy to do it.
That was sarcasm....but I seriously hope that TF2 wins if the 'bots get more screen time, as is rumored.
