Why can't a part of me get past this being almost insulting? Does not compute. It looks cool, but Abraham Lincoln? He was one of the greatest Americans who ever lived, but this is just a huge "wtf?" Can anyone put this into a perspective that doesn't want to make my head asplode?

I got the audio book and found it rather good.

For the general masses that think it is a fun title and believe the story to be as such (as I did), the story is historical but with vampires thrown in for color. Don't take this statement as saying this is a boring story. It is not. Think of this as history with flair.

    :lol

I have to agree, I don't think they should take great American Presidents and have them as vampire hunters,
leave that for Abraham Van Helsing---not Abraham Lincoln. :D

From the clips I've seen, it looks dark and bloody, but I think I can pass on this one.

To be honest, I would love to be remembered 200 years from now for being a vampire hunter.

Saw the trailer last night. Stupidest idea for a movie. Ever.

It's based on a very good book. However, I'm sure the movie is more of the traditional Hollywood loose adaption.

    >Kills a shit-ton of vampires like a badass
    >Killed by John Wilkes Booth

    The only major plot hole.

    Problems with this film?
    -Uneven Tones
    -Uneven Script
-Lack of characterization and development for numerous characters.

This or the book? Get the book for more or less the same price. And you can read it again too.

Well I didn't read the book. Maybe I should.

BTW I would really recommend that you guys see this movie's mockbuster: Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies.

    It's pretty good.

I have seen the movie and (major spoiler ahead-->)
they don't show Abe's death. At the end, he leaves to go to the theater and you kind of know what will happen to him from history books, and it's over.

Saw this and couldn't help but think:

Seeley Booth (who on "Bones" is supposed to be a descendant of JWB) is played by David Boreanaz who was Angel..a vampire. :D

I read the book in 2 days. The only other books I've read that fast are "Carrie", "V: The Second Generation" and the first 3 "Sookie Stackhouse" books.

Now I really want to see Abe vs. Zombies!

That's pretty sad that they don't use the ending from the book. I really enjoyed the scene where
Abe visits JFK in the Oval Office, then Abe and his sire go to listen to MLK's speech.

Oddly enough I was going to buy V: The Second Generation the other day because I was a huge fan of the miniseries. I didn't buy it in the end because I still had my summer reading to do and I have to also read my driving test booklet.

What is the tone of the book version of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter? Does it take itself seriously or is it highly self-aware and has fun with its premise?

Serious. Kinda like Hunger Games serious, Not Twilight stupid Serious. If you can appreciate good dialogue and great characterization and a great story, It's the book for you. It's actually pretty educational, since it's pretty much just a fictionalized Abraham Lincoln story but with Vampires.

I had the feeling that it takes itself seriously. It's written from the POV of a writer doing research on Lincoln, and discovers secret diaries that detail the existence of Vampires and that Lincoln was a Hunter. It also includes historical fact, but "twisted" to fit the book. For example we find out that that the formation of the CSA was a plot
by Vamps to keep slaves as a food source.

As for "V" if you get a chance to read it, got for it. Just remember that in ignores "The Final Battle" So some fan favorites like Ham are not in it.
