TLK's Witwican Order secret history suggest that either they've been on Earth before or they've been on Earth for decades or in Drift's case centuries. BB was CB-7 a WWII Allies Autobot ally along with Hot Rod. Hot Rod being with the Order since 1901. Hound was an ally of the US Army. Drift and another Autobot was in feudal Japan.

So did Optimus find those two on Earth after DOTM? Or did he know they were hiding?

Optimus somehow knew all about Archibald Witwicky. So I'd say he was aware of the Autobots' actions on Earth.

I'm a bit curious for how long Earth was considered an Unknown Planet to them?

That's actually a good question. Optimus narrates the Cube's descent and calls Earth an uknown planet. Is he referring to the planet at that time or is he narrating from some time in the future?

LOL it would be such the bayverse if Drift got everything he is today from being in japan for centuries..... I mean because having any type of personality or culture on cybertron was forbidden by Michael Bay...

Definitely some time in the future because he said "But we were already too late" at the end of the narration so he already knows the outcome and everything.

I doubt we'll ever get an explanation.

That's the beauty of the movieverse - the movies themselves give no answer to this and many other questions, so it's up to us to fill in the blanks.

LoL....... that would require people working on the bayverse to treat transformers as actual characters instead of props that make the explosions happen.

That could very well be possible now with the whole expanded universe and new people working on them.
