Hi everybody, I've been wondering for a while which of the two consoles to buy. I can't afford both and I'm already supporting my PS4 and my film work for University (Screen Writer and Production Manager). The Wii U would be useful for community greetings as well as being useful for the rest of my family as my mother's Wii fit board is getting busted. However the console is a bit costly and I don't if there is enough games I would play regularly on it. The 3DS would be useful during days when I am on set, especially when it's night shoots which as being an production manager, find myself doing very little for hours on end. I also find myself travelling more so the 3DS would be more useful. I've also wanted to play The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Pokemon x and y and especially the new versions of Ruby and Sapphire (the versions I played the most back in the day) however I was bit annoyed from the timed exclusives on Soul Silver and the wierd, "Pokeballs are mindrape" in White and Black. Also which one has the best Virtual Console library as this is one of things I use my Wii for. Which one do you think I should buy?
3ds. It is cheaper and has a better game library as of right now. Also vc library depends on what you like 3ds supports gb, gbc, game gear, and nes with some 3d versions of some nes and genesis games. Wii u supports nes, snes, and gba.
2DS is even cheaper yeah? I don't know what the original 3DS sells for nowadays, but I got a 2DS at Target last week for $99.
It is cheaper but you can easily find a used 3ds for the same price. This I just my opinion but I don't like the 2ds because you are missing half of the experience. Especially in games like super Mario 3d land, Mario kart 7 and a link between worlds.
3DS has more games, more coming out for it, a huge library of virtual console games. DS games, Digital games, and DSiware games. On top of that its streetpass functions are a fun extra. And let's tal price. It's cheaper, portable games are cheaper, and the eShop frequently has sales on various games from indie titles, to full blown retail games. I for instance nabbed Resident Evil Revalations for $10. Get yourself a huge SD card, you're going to need it.
If you're in a one or the other situation, I say get the 3DS now and a WiiU later down the line. At present, 3DS has the stronger game library and is cheaper. The WiiU is surely but slowly building up its game library so there's nothing wrong with getting it a bit later on.
get a 2ds if you're blind in one eye, or 4 years old and want something you can chew on and fall asleep on top of without breaking the hinge. Otherwise go with the 3ds. Why deny yourself.
Cause the shitty 3D screen in a 3DS either looks like shit in 2D mode or causes unbelieable searing pain in the eyes in 3D mode. So yeah fuck the 3DS, 2DS or nothing.
Dude.. If your getting Searing pain in the eyes in 3D mode.. 2 things.. you need to get your eyes checked *seriouslly.. I'm not being sarcastic here* or you need to turn the 3D down. Because the 3D in the 3D works the way your eyes naturally see... So if it's hurting that bad, you may really need to get that checked.
I'm hardly the only person in the world who can't handle digital 3D very well. I can only just handle movie 3D, and my sister has told me that hurts her eyes. And the 3DS only stopped hurting when the 3D slider was at off. And the screen then looked like crap.
searing pain? just find the correct viewing angle and learn to hold the damn thing straight. If you're not exaggerating out of all proportion, you really do need to get your eyes checked out.
I get the same searing pain if I try to read with my glasses on. Certain colour combinations of website background text does the same thing.
Apart from the screen size and the fact the 2DS doesn't have a hinges, what are the differences between the 2DS, 3DS and the 3DS XL? I remember years ago reading the battery life wasn't very good because of the 3D, is that still true? Also, though I don't get the same pain as Lars573, my eyes do begin to strain after an hour watching 3D films at the cinema like what happend with Avatar and Gravity.
So because of a problem which seems specific to you, the OP should conform to it? Makes sense... Personally I'd say 3DS, you already have a TV box (PS4) and you can play 3DS on the toilet. The toilet. We're living in the future man! And to acknowledge the 3D searing head pain thing, try one out first before you buy?
Actually the 3ds screen is better then the 2ds screen. They are the same size but the 3ds has 2 times the resolution. Even if you are playing it in 2d.
