Ah, of course, how did I not clock that? My brain sucks today, haha.
It's not a passenger car, it's the locomotive's tender, which Astrotrain has sorely needed since G1 (as he is not a tank engine, and thus requires a tender at all times). Every bit of that plastic IS being used to make the locomotive mode better, by completing it with chunk it's always needed. "Adding in the piece that's always been obviously missing" is the best improvement they could have done.
He’s an Apeface fan? That’s cool, likewise. Just want a WFC Snapdragon.
Haha thanks, first to recognise/comment about it!
I'm SO happy we are finally getting the autobot targetmasters!!! I agree with the couple of comments about a possible add on kit for some tires or something... Because he is NOT reminiscent of his G1 counterpart like his decepticon brethren. But it will be nice to finish a set so long after seeing their counterparts completed with weapons.
Astrotrain if frickin beautiful. He has a very battle hardened look to him. His TR version kinda looked like a Starscream like weasel.
I’m also digging Spinister’s dual cockpit for some reason
Astrotrain makes me want the other Decepticon triple changers in the Siege line.
I don’t think we need a new Blitzwing or Octane/Octone honestly the most recent versions are good enough imo. Just sucks they have the headmaster gimmick.
I don’t think I’d say no on the other hand either though.
I'd love a modern Octane that has a proper passenger jet alt-mode, and not an "any other type of plane BUT that" they've done the past couple times.
Heck, go for "improving the original" and try to make him a proper 4-engined 747 this time around. (Vs the oddly-square-ish 2 engines on the toy)
It will be interesting to see what they have planned down the line for triple changers. I could see another shot at Blitzwing in voyager size to offset Siege Springer and maybe Leader or Commander Broadside to rival Astrotrain since both can claim the troop carrier gimmick. Sandstorm might be harder to justify since the temptation would be just to do a Springer remold but I think the current design team knows better. Octane is in a similar spot with no really viable reuse for the mold.
I think this is going to be a completion thing though. New Springer and Astrotrain. I’d lay odds on new Broadside and Sandstorm. At that point, Blitzwing and Octane become strong choices.
Blitzwing has a couple of repaint options. Maybe Octane could involve some compromise so you get a Thunderclash from the mold.
They all look great. Except for Spinister's altmode. Think I'm good with the TFC Subscription figure.
You make a good case, but Astrotrain is the only one repeated so far with no hint at the others. It’s definitely possible though, but I’d want a new mold for Sandstorm or maybe an extremely heavy retool.
I’d honestly like a commander class Broadside with a massive base/mobile artillery platform designed to be compatible with the Micromasters.
His jet mode could be a troop carrier too.
Throwing another set of names out there:
Energon Rodimus and Checkpoint.
It kind of works if you imagine Energon Rodimus as a separate character from Rodimus Prime or Hot Rod. Rodimus Senior, if you will.
Astrotrain is the only one of these three that I don't have a pre-order on. I think that I'll have to see him in person to decide. Good thing Siege figures still have a clear window on the box.
Part 2 might not, however think of the awesome art work we’ve gotten already. It’ll probably be tripled
Art is nice, but it won't sell me any figures.
Too bad Crosshairs is not a headmaster that way he could have the right head. I could see an add on later on.
Spintister\'s expression looks like: \"Holy shit, I just got a new toy...\"
7\" astrotrain? Too small. Should have been commander class.
He does have the right head, the one from rebirth. The toy head and head from headmasters would also be the right head
Separate names with a comma.
