I felt the same thing.
It's not exactly the same scene for scene, but it definitely evoked a memory of the Epic Assault on the Chaos Bringer's Buttocks.

Also, Animated Optimus supported the Dinobots' remaining deactivated the same way the G1 Optimus initially wanted the Dinobots deactivated.

And to add to that, I just remembered another likely subtle nod in the premiere- remember when the Decepticons were arguing and Megs appears?
Remind you of a certain episode where even rumble and frenzy attacked the seekers with soundwave just standing there and Megs suddenly shows up?

 

Which episode was that again? It sounds so familiar but I can't place it.

 

I think it was that episode where Starscream takes Megs for dead yet again and he takes Dr. Archevil with him back to Cybertron Can't remember the title but wasn't that a two-parter?

I think you're right.
I can't remember the name of the epsiode either, but that sounds right.

Also (after watching the episode for the 15th time) I noticed that they don't seem to be having the vehicle modes warp and bounce as they talk.

If that is the case, then I no longer have any complaints about Animated.
