Recently, I have found myself very disinterested in the Transformers toylines, and even media. Dark of the Moon, was a pretty good movie, and I like Prime well enough. But, that isn't the problem. The problem/question is: Where are my Prime toys? Why is it that Transformers Prime can't decide when it is going to run the next episode? Why are the only DOTM toys on shelves now, a bunch of different renditions of the same damn toy we have seen for the past four years? I know these are all questions that have been asked thousands of times, and I might only get sarcastic answers... But really? For a mega-corporation that obviously know what they are doing... It feels as if, they got lost in translation, and are missing out on a potential to make a profit...
The fact they had to surrender lot of creative control to another mega-company, Paramount, to get the movies made, is a key factor as to why things are the way they are.
Honestly, I hate third party companies with passion. Yes, they are a great alternative as to what Hasbro isn't doing. But, why should we as a fandom have to pay extra for what Hasbro can't? Honestly, like... I just really miss the "Older days" (God... it is sick that I can say that.) When there was a set list of toys that all came out at the same time. Like the Unicron Trilogy. Like... I don't know. It is nice that these Third party companies are making the effort to fix the problems... I just... Eh, I don't know. It just pisses me off with the way things are now.
What I'm doing. I've bought almost nothing but 3rd party stuff for the last month or so. But your post is totally understandable OP. I'm pretty bored with what's out right now as well.
They've announced both when the next Prime episode is going to air, and when the toys are going to be hitting shelves. Keep your shirt on, friend.
It has been clearly stated numerous times That Prime, as a show, was extremely rushed in order to have launch as close to the start of the hub as possible. The creators of the show have been under then gun and playing catch up for awhile now. This had to have been a very jarring experience for the Tf design team. Here they were starting designs on season 4 animated toys and boom, canceled. We know that only a couple of prime toys were going to be put in generations at first while the movie toy was out. Now it seams very much like Prime is being pushed up and the movie line cut short. Its important to realize that this is not one corporation affecting all these decisions but several. You have Hasbro, dreamworks, paramount, The Hub/Discovery. and all the major retailers (toysrus, target, walmart) are all chiming in with there opinions on how to maximize profits for themselves. Prime toys will come out in force by the end of the year. Patience and understanding is key in these situations
my input whenever a thread like this comes up, deal with it. Wait if you want prime toys, and if you don't like DotM Toys, save your money for when the prime toys come out and get 'em all in one go.
I don't think you really understand how any of these things work. 3rd party stuff is so expensive, because it's extremely expensive to produce the products. Fansproject has some of the cheapest prices, because they were able to make a deal with a factory. Others aren't so lucky. Transformers still came out in waves during the Unicron Trilogy. That's how it works. Also, we know the Prime toys are coming out in November. I'm telling you this right now. The way things are right now is fucking amazing. If things were like the way they were during the Unicron Trilogy, we wouldn't be getting all the cool stuff we get now. I mean holy shit, we got a toy of goddamn Straxus, and we have a toy of Black Shadow coming up! Those would have never happened before the movies. Hell, it wasn't that many years ago when Hasbro wouldn't even use the name Wheeljack. We are quite literally in the golden age here. The real problem is that we've become used to it, and expect better and better things.
I'd care to disagree about being "In the golden age." It isn't that we expect better and better (though that would be nice.) It is more about, we the fans wanting a better source to buy plastic crank, that doesn't come as a down payment of a house (I'm looking at you TFC). Sure designing costs money, but who says you need to hire a crazy expensive designer? We are fans right? So why not make the toys for the people, by the people? This is why I support G1Uppers, they have had so much fan contribution to their work, it is just amazing. And honestly, I am sick of people saying "You don't know what you are talking about, and don't understand how the system works." Though, it is a true statement. It doesn't change the fact that... neither do any of us really. It is pretty hit and miss, especially with how shadey Hasbro really is. Hell, for all we know. Maketoys (Who is also Fansproject, just China based) could secretly be a team of Hasbro employees just trying to make a quick buck off the backs of the bruised. Ok... so I don't know what I am talking about, and obviously ranting on a Transformers board isn't going to get me anywhere. But, there comes a point... When really? You just paid seven hundred dollars on a toy... Ouch. Just my quarter.
HasTak Mass produces so many figures so it keeps the price low, well third parties do limited run stuff so it has to cost more. Simple math man. It's the factory costs that drive up the prices, not whos deciding what they toy looks like. As an ending note, I leave you with a very very relevant quote for this "rant": Spoiler Arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics. Even if you win, you are still ******ed. Now, just deal with how life is, and move on, everybody else is.
i can relate to this. i don't even see that they are helping. its an extension of those ebay custom tf that sold for like a grand or two. a lot of peeps would even argue that these companies are helping fans. i would say that they are milking us without no legal rights to the characters we love. you're certainly not alone. don't mind everyone else stating otherwise. the fun stops immediately when you have to actually pay for TFC devastator. i felt that after looking at my budget disappear. like you said, its like having to pay mortgage. there are other peeps out here who do feel the same. just not as vocal since the majority of the boards disagree. what these peeps need to understand is that hey you can't always argue your way to change someone's opinion. especially if they keep on doing it.
Except they aren't preying on people the way 'parasites' do. If people pay them for their goods and services, they're making a conscious decision to. Zoologically, a more appropriate term than 'parasites' would be 'opportunist hunters'
that applies more to you dude. especially since you came in here in his thread titled with a rant. regarding your post, you can't always convince other peeps or call em' out like that because they differ in opinion then insulting him like that just shows how you can't deal with simple life situations like people having a different opinion. your post was okay until the spoiler insult came out.
nice. especially when these companies started flourishing at the height of selling custom transformers. i also can't wait for TF prime toys. my wallet is going to hurt even more.
I love the agument that 3rd party stuff is so expensive because of lower producton runs. While, yes, they will cost more than a retail toy your precious fansproject is still charging you well over the odds. you aren't getting this stuff at cost. They are making a serious profit on these unliscensed toys. And te run's aren't that limited. I reckon city commander has been far more produced than most 3A stuff who are a) legitimate and b) make FAR higher quality product for a similar retail price.
I can't wait for when Bayformers is off the shelves FOREVER! I'l settle for what Hasbro gives us out of Classics. Also Prime's toylines excites me so.
Comparing Fansproject to threeA makes no sense at all. Just looking at whats been available on bbts, ThreeA constantly reissues repaint/remolds of the same toys with different accessories, paint jobs, etc. It makes it impossible to compare how molding costs are spread out when Fansproject items don't have the repaint potential that threeA stuff does. Afre both companies making money?? Sure, there supposed to but transforming toys have always been more expensive then there action figure counterparts
