When there's an item that says "Out of Stock" but the site still lets you put it in your cart, and it says "Usually ships within 4 to 6 weeks", does that mean that they're likely to get another shipment of the item soon? What happens if you buy one or more items like that?
Yes, that's generally what that means. "Discontinued" would mean it's out and they don't expect more, and you can't order any more. As far as what happens after placing the order on an OOS, I'd imagine it's like a preorder, but I've never done it myself.
Essentially, the difference between "out of stock" and "Backorder" on HLJ is that OOS items don't have anybody already requesting them at the current time.
