I'm interested in a program that can convert a .wmv file to .avi format, but I want it to be watchable on a regular DVD player. My brother used Windows Movie Maker and the file was playing on my comp, but the regular DVD won't play the movie.
Unless it's being converted to a DIVX AVI and you have a DIVX compatible player, you're not going to have any luck with that. In terms of converting files, however...this site has proven to be invaluable for me. If you want the files to be viewable on DVD, your best bet is getting them converted to MPEG-2 DVD compliant files. DVD Flick is a pretty good program (if your files are too large for Media-Convert.com) in terms of converting video files straight up to DVD VOB files.
I do have a DivX compatible DVD player. But I don't think my brother converted the file to DivX .avi file.
