So, this is a weird thing.

Transformers - Coming Soon | Battersea Power Station

To clarify, Battersea Power Station used to be one of London's main coal fired power plants, opening in 1935 and closing in 1983. It's then been sold a couple of times, listed as a grade 2 historic landmark and a few years back was made into a shopping centre (mall).

And it's apparently getting a permenant Transformers store for merch, figures, comics, etc.

I suspect "permenant" will be about 6 months, 12 at the outside. A weird but neat little thing.

I was browsing the Battersea Power Station site last night when I found this in the news:

This is another sign of Hasbro trying to shift to a more "experience based" method of selling the brand, from the looks of it? Can't say I disagree with it, Lego's done quite well with the model, and even as a kid there was much more of this kind of 'fancy' retail for toys (it still exists overseas in Asia, and frankly I miss it going through a toys r us or a Walmart these days). I'm curious as to whether this will be a hasbro owned venture, or if they're partnering/contracting with another company to run the store.

 

When I visit London next summer, I'll hit this up.  

 

Not too hard for me to get to, keen to check it out and take my son.

If they can stock up in a timely fashion, by which i mean keep up with Pulse times or even beat them by a day or two, i'll make it my regular procurement source.

It's cool having stuff delivered to your door but nothing beats that feeling of wonder walking into a toy shop to sniff out a Transformers logo.
