so here's the article I read just now.... A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST Fans' Dreams Might Be Coming True! ROBERT ENGLUND Back As FREDDY? it isn't confirmed, but according to AICN, it is from a reliable source. What is everyone's thoughts on this? While I love Nightmare on Elm Street, aside for a brief cameo in a Halloween episode of a sitcom in 2018, Robert Englund hasn't played Freddy in 15 or 16 years. I believe he is 72 now. That's pretty old to play the character. While I will probably see the movie the weekend it comes out (if it is actually made), i'm not sure if I am psyched about it. In the 80s and 90s, they made a new freddy movie every 12-18 months. The last time we saw Freddy was Freddy Vs Jason and that kind of ended on a cliffhanger. Is this going to be a replay of how Halloween 2018 made that franchise relevant again? Or will this be a Terminator Genysis and Terminator Dark Fate (which I actually liked both) which basically has killed the franchise. Honestly, this feels like a TREMENDOUS cash grab because the rights reverted back to Wes Craven's family.
If true, I'm seeing it for sure!! I've made peace with the concept for reboots, cuz let's face it, none of us are getting any younger and I suppose there's room for this generation to have their own versions of things, but my heart is still in the 80's and I'd love nothing more than to see Robert reprise the role. And yeah, Jay v. Fred really did leave the story open for continuity, even back as two separate franchises. One thing, no matter how old Mr. Englund gets, so long as he gets in shape, the makeup will mask any aging on his part.
If you can find them check out the Freddy Vs Jason vs Ashe. They are pretty good but pretty expensive. I got both the first time I went to nycc and I had a person who was going to buy the pair of books for like 100 bucks but my mom dropped them in the sink accidentally and they got ruined
