They made a profit in the last quarter. A healthy one at that.

as far as I know, they actually did pretty well. They are taking a self-inflicted hit with the replacements of Red-Ring systems, but i think that profit still outweight it, not to mention that the Red Ring fixtured are an unintentional good PR move for them that will work for them in inspiring trust from their fans. I know it made me pretty proud to support them. But not as proud as a brand new Azurik game would make me.

I want to fight the meat cube soooo bad I can taste it and let me tell you, it tastes like meat.
I see it as an opportunity to play some sweet games I passed on the first go around.

Halo 3 has gone past "a game" and is more of an "experience" now. I'll do my best to explain:

    1. Familiar controls, physics, and style.

Halo has been a franchise player since 2001 and every Xbox owner has played an incarnation of it. As a Halo gamer, I know what to expect with every installation unlike COD.

It's like The Matrix and Star Wars ... when it was time for a sequel, you knew it was going to be good.

    2. Innovations.
The replay theater is golden. I cannot explain to you how often I use this to capture glitches, explain mystery frags, and personal triumphs.

The concept for "Forge" makes for a near endless variety of games. Users can customize, share, and play as they see fit. For example, "Grifball" (the online sensation last week) was a game variant made by users, not Bungie. Because of the creativity involved, Halo wasn't an FPS anymore, it felt like Madden meets American Gladiators.

    3. A borderline quest for perfection.
Bungie monitors everything. They even count the number of times players die at a specific coordinate on a map. At that point, they do their best to tweak levels for fairness and bugs.

Halo 3 might have been released in September, but so much has been worked over since then. (See the melee system)

    4. Online Integration
Bungie.net reads like MLB / NFL / NBA / NHL .com. You can look up your career statistics including achievements and medals. Because of this, it feels like I'm never quite done with the game. I can pin point what levels I'm terrible at, what weapons do / don't work too well for me, etc.

Also, I gather my in-game snapshots here. Now I can show cool pictures to my forum buddies.

So, now Halo 3 has left my console, and now it's a part of my internet life ... along with Yahoo! Mail, TFW, and RedTube.com.

I could be here all day and rant and rave about Halo 3 ... Unfortunately, it has turned my Xbox360 into a $449.99 Halo 3 TV adapter, but what ya gonna do.

I have intentions of playing other games, but Halo has killed it. I'll take a picture later, I have 8 or 9 games still in shrink wrap. : \ This is why I'm skipping R6V:2, it just won't get played.

None of this stuff is new to me. Halo is an event now. And for me, it's good to know that a game has made the impact that something like Star Wars makes when a new movie comes out.

What I am saying is that MS needs to make more noise for some of their other heavy-hitters.
