Hi all I'm just wondering does anyone think IDW have one more twist left in this continuity before it ends? I know that a certain former senator being at the heart of everything was massive but I'm wondering will there be one more..... And if so what could it be....
The entirety of the series was Crosscut's stage play, adapted to screen by Thundercracker who was eventually fired from the sequel for racist/sexist/paedophilic comments he made several years ago on Twitter, which is why the series has been cancelled. Taika Waititi is rumored as being optioned to direct the final installment.
The new rebooted continuity is actually a continuation of the main IDW continuity, in the same way that Beast Machines is a continuation of Beast Wars, but its still effectively its own entity rather than Beast Wars season four.
I half think this is going to be the case. Depends on how "all media must match" Hasbro is feeling, I suspect.
Aligned, the later attempts at Unit E, and the Hasbro Shared Universe show that Hasbro desperately wants to replicate the success of the MCU, and I don't think they're done trying. I could be wrong. If they do, however, I suspect (hope?) that Hasbro is going to try and throttle back and regain some control with a more unified, structured approach. Not some kind of Big Brother level control, but I suspect that they'll make more of an effort to have most of it's lines walking parallel instead of bumbling off the reservation like it has since the poor Aligned continuity.
It turns out that, thanks to time travel shenanigans, literally *every character* in the IDW universe is actually a time-displaced version of Shockwave...even the human characters and Buster. The continuity ends with all the characters drawn with Shockwave heads, standing around trying to figure out exactly how this happened.
I think Lost Light must be done with them, because we know #25 is mostly an epilogue, and I feel like there's not really space in #24 to both resolve the Functionist Primus threat and cram in yet another plot reveal. We likely are going to get a reveal relating to the mystery of the Arisen in the last two Unicron issues, though.
Wait, you could make it where AHM on is simply negated and Hunter is still alive? I would take back everything bad I've ever said about IDW if they pull a stunt like that. I'd even forgive them for hiring Magdalene Vissagio.
I think the Omega Guardians reveal counts as the last-minute new threat. We damn better. We also need an answer for what exactly is the deal with "Primus' opposite" from the myths and why Unicron looks like him.
