A few days ago a friend of mine who collects TF's askked me: Why some TF's have "Desert Dog" written on the wheels? I also remembered that some others had Dunlop or Cybertron Radial.... I assume this was the name of the wheels "manufacturer" Any better explantion for this?
it adds to the realistic 'robots in disguise' aspect. that's a real tire manufacturer. Alts have cybertronian radial on them, I'd imagine since they're licensed vehicles they didnt want to get into legal issues getting real tires because different cars have different tire agreements that could conflict and cause headaches. So they say cybertronian radial instead so we still have a nice bit of detailing! Andy
It's just a cool extra detail, which like Radline says, is to keep in with the whole idea of "Robots in Disguise". A nice one at that, too.
Dunlop is a read tire company. http://www.dunloptires.com/ Apparently Desert Dog is also a tire company however they specialize in off-roading. So Iassume that Desert Dog is on the 2 Wranglers. http://www.desertdogoffroad.com/
Dunlop and Desert Dog were molded on G1 tires. I know Prime (and probably Trailbreaker & Hoist) had Desert Dog. Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Hubcap and (I think) Beachcomber had Dunlop on theirs. 20th Anniversary Prime also has Desert Dog on his tires, as a nod to his G1 toy. Aaron Archer actually started a post asking if anyone knew what "Desert Dog" was, just to see if the reference would be noticed on the 20th Prime (which wasn't released at that point). The Alts are all Cybertronian Radials, if I'm not mistaken.
