i dont know if its just me or are transformers coming out these days have less and less guns. and some dont come with any weaopons at all. all through the unicron trilogy most everyone had a weapon or gun of some sorts.it just seems lately with animated and now ROTF there is a lack of guns or weaponary or they are attached to the figure in some way. anyone notice this or have any input? thanks for any and all responses
The way I see it, the TF's have the weapons attached to them. Examples: -Ani. BB: Stingers mounded on each arm, can shoot electricity. -Ani. Lugnut: He's got the P.O.K.E. (Punch Of Kill Everything, or the giant explosion when he rams his fist into the ground) -ROTF Breakaway: His right arm has a built-in rotating machine gun -ROTF Ransack: he's got the mini-bombs and the machine gun on his arms. So the TF's aren't really loosing weapons, they're just loosing the ability to actually loose them!
Animated was more kiddy, so it makes some sense there. I can see what you're saying. I don't think Sideways has weapons of any type, and neither does Wheelie. I think Hasbro makes up for this though by giving Prime to huge freakin' blades and turning Megatron into an awesome tank.
yes deltaprime you got a point about animated being kiddie. its just back in G1 everyone had a gun no matter whta/. now i may be wrong on that of course but it seemed that way. now i do like attached weaponary cause it is easeier to keep up with but i do miss me some big guns
Have you seen ROTF Leader Megatron's right arm? Or even the combined Prime/Jetfire form's gun? I'd consider those pretty damn big guns.
Um, almost every ROTF figure so far has had a weapon of some sort. Prime = Swords Bumblebee = cannon(s) Skids and Mudflap = Arm-mounted cannons Ironhide = Arm cannons Ratchet = Axe Sideswipe = Swords Megatron = Fusion Cannon and sword Starscream = Arm-mounted gatling cannons Sideways = Arm-mounted Buzzsaw Breakaway = Gatling gun Rampage = Tread whips Mixmaster = back-mounted missile launcher You get the idea.
I miss the G1 style guns. Lines like energon did have plenty of weapons and more recent line do have weapons built in, but I liked the black plastic guns we used to get. I guess that kids today want the weapon to do something, hence the shift. The old style ones are mainly good for displaying when your army is all lined up.
yes sir i see that. i guess im just picky like odeean said i miss the G1 style guns. hasbro is going away from that for some reason. i just wanted to get some opinions and if anyone else has been thinking the same thing. some of those weapons like breakaways and sideways are pretty lame, on the other hand meagatron's and sideswipes weapons are pretty cool. would have been nice if sideswipe came with a shoulder mounted missle launcher though. i think rampage's weapons are pretty lame along with ratchets
I don't miss the guns at all. That was never the deal for me. But I do kind of miss how there'd be a little bag of accessory parts in the box. Most of them were pretty stupid, but it was something about the box having extra stuff in it.
My biggest TF pet peeve is weapons. It bother me when figures don't have any. I won't usually hold it against a figure, but I do like a good gun or melee weapon. On a lesser scale, it bother me when they don't have a gun. Even with giant melee weapons, a little laser gun makes me feel better. I won't not buy a good figure because of this, but its just a little thing that irks me.
yeah Vizer it wont stop me from buying a figure but it is a pet peeve of mine.lately i have been using weapons from KO transformers or spawn and sigma 6 weapons to fillin the void. it works pretty well to a certain extent. you have to do a little fiddling with them such as shaving down the handles on weapons so they fit in the hands. i like that universe inferno had a weapon it is attacthed but i also gave him an ax from a KO i had, put som magnets on it and in vehicle mode it is stroed on the side
If a figure doesn't have an actual separate weapon then they should at least have one built in or molded on. They are supposed to be warring robots after all.
Most modern Transformers still have built in weapons, just not many accessories. I think that is a good because people tend to lose accessories. Everyone hates losing accessories so the less they are, the better. It is also safer for the young children.
Remember the G1 cartoon? The Bots and Cons will shoot at each other for rounds after rounds, not hitting anything though. That would not make sense in the Movie, therefore no weapons given to the movie formers so they can live a bit longer. LOL.
In the days of G1, it always seemed like you were getting more for your dollar in terms of accessories, weapons, etc.
