Ok first of all I loved the movie Ok now when Cade is showing the autobots the footage that he found from the drone you first see ratchet getting killed then lead foot and only hound says something about lead foot then when Cade is in the lab and is showing them live them melting ratchets head prime loses it yelling they slaughtered ratchet and every thing a couple things about this 1) how did Cade know ratchets name? 2) wouldn't prime already know that they slaughtered ratchet from the footage earlier 3) prime was a LOT more upset about ratchet than jazz, iron hide, or lead foot why? Also when we meet the first four autobots (bumblebee, drift, hound, and crosshairs) they are at each other's throats literally and not really acting like autobots then magically they work together, no rousing speech from prime or nothing, how did that happen?
you have to understand this is a movie. 1) because Cade knowing the robot's name would make the scene simpler. (no need for exposition of Cade asking questions) 2) not about knowing anything, the scene requires a reaction from Prime so that he isn't seen as a soulless robot. 3) see answer to number 2. last question, sloppy writing. you found a flaw in script writing.
1. Ratchet said "I'm medical officer Ratchet!" while pleading for his life, didn't he? I assume he saw that in the footage. 2. He knew they slaughtered him, but not that they were right in there at that moment melting him down. 3. Prime finally started reacting to his friends being killed after 3 movies of nothing. They did keep fighting throughout the movie, especially Hound and Crosshairs, but I do see the problem. The Autobots outside of Optimus deserved development too, but at least this movie was a start in making the robots not just background pieces.
This. Sure it was overdone, (much like cartoons tend to do) but at least Prime seemed to genuinely give a fuck this time. When Ironhide died, he just looked at the ground.
I was actually very surprised at how Prime reacted to Ratchet's death. After three movies of barely any reaction to others dying the writers finally decided to do something about it.
The whole point of the KSI raid was because they were experimenting on Ratchet. Desecrating his corpse in an effort to destroy the Transformers.
While they did fight a bit throughout the rest of the movie (especially when they first got on Lockdowns ship), I see your point. I think it was partly because they really had no choice but to work together to survive (they needed each other), and partly because Optimus is such a great leader that they put their differences aside for him.
He probably reacts more because Jazz died by Megatron while fighting so he kind of died honorably but ratchet was slaughtered while pleading for his life while being betrayed by humans he protected so that probably just pissed Optimus off.
1. you can't not know that's ratchet, especially when you hang out with a bunch of autobots 2. they were all in different places when everything happened 3. ratchet has always been closer to optimus than the other bots, except bumblebee
1) It's in the footage. He actually says he's the Autobot Medic Ratchet. 2) No, he didn't know, they were separated. 3) He got super angry because they were being systematically hunted down and assassinated. The previous deaths were all casualties of the conflict, and he's even in a state of shock for a bit after Ironhide dies in RotF. He has EVERY reason to be mad in AoE
Optimus didn't see Jazz die, but he was pretty sad about Jazz's death, but at the same time Optimus was relishing in the victory as well. Optimus never actually see's the death of Ironhide, he probably missed what little peices of rusted scrap was left of him when he quickly drove into the N.E.S.T base, after that his mourning was probably off screen. As for Ratchet, his last closest friend, he see's it.....he see's it all.
This is why Optimus reacted the way he did. Every other Autobot, namely Jazz, Arcee twins, and Jolt died at the hands of Decepticons. Obviously Prime has seen many Autobots fall at the hands of 'Cons! Optimus may not have SAID anything about Ironhide's death but look at his face while he was looking at the floor. He'd have more aggression for Sentinel rather than remorse for Ironhide. Ironhide's death is what motivated Prime to run after Sentinel and ask, "WHY, WHY SENTINEL?". Yes were 3 movies in and Prime shows emotions. This is due to the fact that it's Humans this time..! A race that you swore to protect has turned against you. Once he saw Ratchet's head being smelted he lost it. "THEY SLAUGHTERED RATCHET".
Why couldn't megatron fix his head wound scanning a new alt mode between rotf and dotm, when optimus could. Even if he stated that the autobots can fix him?
