Nankatsu SC is a soccer team from Katsushika, Tokyo in Japan. There will be a special event featuring Transformers during the final home game of the 2024 season on Sunday, September 22nd at the Katsushika Ward Okuto Sports Center Athletics Stadium, as stated via their official website. An official Bumblebee costume will be during the kick off and halftime for fans to take pictures and interact with him. There will be a special photo spot with an special background illustration drawn by artist Yoichi Takahashi, author of the popular soccer manga Captain Tsubasa. The Nankatsu SC and Katsushika city were part of the story in the manga. This special illustration features the main character Ozora Tsubasa and Convoy/Optimus Prime. A colored postcard of the same illustration will be given away to the first 500 people who enter to the stadium. A special “coloring experience” sheet will be given away to the first 500 fans who wish to participate. A sticker of the illustration will also be given away to all fans at the event. Nankatsu players will held a “transformation experience” with Transformers toys with all fans. There will be a “mask lottery” where fans could win Nankatsu players and Ozora Tsubasa masks. A Convoy/Optimus Prime coloring mask (the same of the upcoming Transformers 40th Anniversary expo) will be a free gift to all participants. “Transformers ONE” x JUBILLY DANCE CREW Special Dance show. Transformers One standee at the stadium, and some other activities to win Transformers One toys.
This is technically a Captain Tsubasa collaboration. Nice! That anime is still extremely popular here in Latin America

I like collabs like this. I don't need Optimus prime redecos for everything. Just people interacting with the brand in general is neat.

I hope this crossover will inspired some Captain Tsubasa style crossover art that capture's the manga's unique sense of scale. It's a lot like Transformers in a way.
I've been watching some of the V-tuber group Hololive's playthroughs of the recent Captain Tsubasa game, and the impression I'm getting is that that isn't all that far-fetched in that universe. I think one of the clip videos I watched was essentially titled, "She thought she was playing a soccer game, it's actually a bunch of monsters trying to kill each other" or something. Hahah. Yes, you can really see some brilliant stuff out there. You'd think it'd be easy, but finding the right shape for some of the parts... As an example, Star Saber's lower legs are pretty thick and bulky thanks to that being where his alt-mode thrusters are, but there aren't many Mobile Suits with just the right shape. Likewise with the shoulder pylons. In comparison, Liokaiser was a bit easier thanks to being able to place, say, the boosters on top of the shoulders to resemble jet mode kibble and a lion chest piece shrunk down and recoloured to plop on the head.
People point to Star Saber when they make Gundam comparisons, but remember even before Marvel's revisions, Optimus was pretty close to be being plain jane GM. He doesn't even have accoutrements in his loins like a Gundam.
