Whoa. Heard from my parents, both of them are OK. And our house in Yokohama is unharmed as well. But my mom is unable to get in contact with my grandmother who lives in Saitama (much closer to the epicenter in Sendai) is she's worried. Hope she's OK.
Where I was last night, only Diamond Head seperated me from the ocean. The news had crews on the mountain watching the ocean and it's crazy seeing the ocean recede and you see like 100 yds of ocean floor just exposed. Luckily for us, the it was a bunch of tiny waves that came in after. We're still in Warning cause there's supposed to be more swells coming in. I think we're dodging another bullet like the last tsunami we got from the Chili earthquake. Also, the news guys say it's supposed to hit the west coast US alot harder then us, so you guys there, be safe!!
This is madness. I will be praying for all those in Japan and the other places where there will be Tsunamis because of this Earthquake. And to those of you who think the world will end next year, you probably believe it even more now, but have no fear, nothing is going to happen in 2012.
What a terrible catastrophe, I heard that the 8.9-magnitude earthquake is the biggest earthquake in modern Japan. Prayers go out to the people of Japan, and I hope they will have a speedy recovery from this event.
May THE LORD be with Nihon people in this moments of tragedy, I join to prayers for this lovely country and its people.
I'm amazed at these idiots going out onto the receded areas on the Ventura beaches and harbors. Even the newscasters were saying that's textbook behavior of a tsunami. First the tide drops as the water gets sucked out, and then the swells come back. I'm waiting to see these people pretty much walking to their own deaths. Fucking morons. Darwin at his finest.
Links to donations to aid. Could this be put in the first post on this thread or be made into its own thread?
Yeah, we get those in Hawaii too. Hawaii just got the all clear!! Good luck to the rest of the world expecting Tsunamis, and pray for the people of Japan.
Man, I've been seeing footage of the tsunami hitting Japan most of the day. It just doesn't seem real, like some footage of a bad movie. Seeing one so well documented by cameras is highly unerving.
