I was 8 in 1986, but I didn't see the movie until 1987 at the age of 9.

I was 5 in 86 but it didn't become my favorite movie until I re-watched it on tape when i was 7.

Ummm, all you people putting negative numbers, you do realise that the OP is asking how old you were when you first watched Transformers the Movie, which was first released in 1986 and not 'How old were you in 1986?'

    Don't you?

I was 11 and a half when I saw it at the theatre in 1986. I saw it on my 2nd attempt, since it was sold out when I first tried to see it. I remember my parents making me see Top Gun instead, and till this day I cant enjoy Top Gun for the movie it is. Whenever I see that movie on I get this "access denied" feeling. F'n Top Gun. smh

I would have been -1, I watched it with 2 of my brothers a couple of years later after watching G2. We had that Blockbuster VHS up until like 2 years ago. Prime dying never bothered me in the least, but I was emotionally taken aback at Starscreams death. *Sniff* Still gets me even now.

Also I did know he meant WHEN we saw it and not how old we were in 86, but I saw everyone else doing it and I went along.

I was 11 or 12 at the time. I didn't get a chance to see it in the theater. In 1987 I rented it on VHS. That's how I saw it.

    I wasn't even born yet :p

But I probably first saw it on VHS when I was like... 12-ish? It was because I had gotten interested in G1 after watching Beast Wars and the movie was like one of the three tapes we had at my local video store.

We were late to the theater so walked into the film when Jazz was reporting to Prime from Moon Base 1. The movie seemed to take off from there it was quite an adventure and very emotional. Best time I ever had at a theater ever! I was only 7. Was glad to rewatch it next year in 87 as a cartoon TV series.

Now the only way to watch it is to own the Blu-ray disc! Takes me back to 1986 every time.

I was 12, I remember being upset by Prime's death, but not devastated.

Unicron creeped me out. The concept of an entire planet being devoured still bugs me.

I recall there was a big stink about Spike saying "shit"

I gotta warn you though, if you think "shit" isn't appropriate for your kids, this movie drops more F-Bombs than Steve Martin at a rental counter.

I was 7 or 8 when my pops took me to see it in the theater. Man I was shocked when they killed Prime. I admit my eyes were watery but I couldn't let my Dad see me cry..haha. I mean what do you expect after watching TF everyday on tv for the past few years then they just about smoke everyone..
