I was 6 when it came out at the cinema, but didn't get to see it until I got the VHS (which I still have) when I was 10.

I was 4 when it came out but didn't see it, I think. I can't say what age I was when I saw it first…

My brother had the first season of G1 on vhs tapes. I watched those when I was 3 or 4.
I was hooked ever since. :)  It wasn't until 2005 or 2006 when I saw the actual '86 movie.
I didn't even know about it 'till then. So, I was either 14 or 15.

I was 9. I was over Transformers by the end of season 2. I remember seeing the ad for the movie and thought it was a whole new story based off the Transformers universe. I wasn't far off. I wasn't interested in going to the cinemas to watch it. Years later maybe when I was 15-16 I happened to see an episode of season 3 on TV. Naturally I had no idea what was going on and thought they butchered G1 (again wasn't far off). I think it was the late 90's when I stumbled across it flicking through the channels and I instantly loved it. The combination of the well drawn animation and Vince Dicola score blew my mind. So yeah, was 9 when it released, and about 20 when I first saw it.

    I was 10 years old.

    Indeed!

I really doubt I cried about Optimus dying, but I do remember being absolutely BLOWN AWAY about all the deaths in the movie. I mean...we went from light animated violence (and not a damn TF being able to hit the broad side of the barn), to death and destruction on an epic scale!

I still admire the balls it took to do that. Yes, it was a big ad and an excuse to introduce the new toys - but look at the lasting effect it had on all of us!

I was 7 when it came out, and it's still one of my favorite movies.

I was about 5 months old. I didn't get to see it in the theater, but I'm hoping they show it in a theater again sometime I'll definitely go. I remember renting it on VHS though, me and my older bro watched the shit out of that movie. The movie store just let us keep it after the 15th or 16th time we rented it.

    10. Mostly I remember how freaked out my dad was. Walking out of the theater he was in shock that a character on a children's show would be killed off, let alone the main character. "They don't do that on *adult* TV shows!", he said. He must've been 32 at the time.
