My theater was pretty dead. For seating close to 500 people, there was probably only about 45 that showed up to the 10pm, non-3D version.

That's pretty good for opening night, but yeah, lower than the previous films.

They have been predicting a $100 million opening, but I'm thinking this at best might hit around $90 million weekend. It's trending, but I just don't see this being a gigantic hit...then again, I hoped Frozen would do 'well,' and look what happened with that film.

That's actually not too bad. My theatre was pretty much PACKED with people during the Australian premiere.

Same here. I didn't check the Real 3D side of the theatre but the non-3D version was pretty packed.

My theater was dead. I was happy with that, after dealing with high schoolers and terrible people crowding ROTF and DOTM.

My IMAX 3D theatre was filled to capacity. Literally not a free seat in the entire place.

I saw it 2D in a mid-tier theater, and it was maybe half full. Considering most people aren't even aware of 9:00 Thursday showings, it wasn't too bad a turnout.

As I've stated before this will do numbers but not as much as people think.

Bay's not even apologetic about his treatment of this franchise this time around and I think people in general are growing tired of this crap. $850M is my prediction if that.

Kind of agree, regardless of quality the movie market has become a little more sedated this year with the highest grossing movies only being around $700M. Competing against Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will be an issue also.

Though with that being said it could still end up making more than the last and due to the lower budget this film will make a large profit easily.

I think once tonight's showings play, and then the weekend showings, we'll see a huge spike in box office numbers - as well as the remaining international showings yet to happen. It's still early. I live in the Midwestern United States and will be doing a guys' night out tonight to see it at 7:50pm. (Cautiously) Looking forward to it. I feel for all the fans in other countries that have to wait up to a month to see it. That really sucks.

For us early rising working stiffs, an 8 or 9 pm showing for a 3 hour movie on a Thursday night.... not gonna happen. I wouldn't use the Thursday bank total as an indication of anything for this film.
