Now, for the record, I'm a very regular customer of Big Bad Toy Store for better or worse, but man, a $25 markup (see link) for ROTF Leader Jetfire? Leader Jetfire - Transformers Transformers II - Revenge of the Fallen (2009) Leader at BigBadToyStore Is he going to be massively underproduced or something? I highly doubt that, given the ROTF saturation were seeing. I understand some of the collector markup they engage in, but this is dare I say, scalper-like? Your thoughts fellow TFW-ers??
BBTS overprices stuff sometimes. It's not like you can only resort to online anyways. He's gonna be everywhere when released.
Yeah that's stupid, even in the Botcon dealer room they had their ROTF at stupid markups despite everyone having to walk by the club store which had it all at retail prices. Just wait 6 months and the Junkion Exchange will be flooded with them for way less than retail.
I guess that's just what makes this seem a bit insane to me. Especially in this economy. I reckon most Leader class figs will be plentiful throughout the summer. $44.99 suggested retail with a 9.8 % U.S. national unemployment = Leaders a plenty.
Yeah BBTS seems to go overboard on some of the weirdest TF's and most everything else still overpriced. I love the "sale" items that are marked down to retail... One thing I do like though is not having to pay to pre-order and being able to cancel if you change your mind before it comes in. With the good comes the bad
Jetfire'll probably come in a wave with Optimus Prime. OP will be shelfwarming by then so they're probably making up the cost with Jetfire.
This is actually pretty common for figures in later waves. Jetfire is marked up because they have to order him along with more Leader Primes. A toy most of there consumers probably have already. By marking up Jetfire it covers the cost of the sales/clearance they will eventually have to do with the primes. Notice how if you buy the whole case you dont pay the markup.
Yep, it's the old "casemate probably won't sell for full price so gotta make it up on the new figure". Stinks, but understandable (and reasonable) from a business perspective. Joel doesn't exactly have the same clout or buying power as your local Walmart.
