There’s something incredibly Japanese about a small team of intricate and tiny transforming robots that combine to form a larger more powerful being, packaged in an attractive giftset depicting a soaring mechanical beast of battle. That is exactly what Takara started to market in Japan at the end of Battlestars: Return of Convoy with the above C-370 Sixliner, and then throughout 1992′s “Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformer Operation Combination”. 6 Is The Magic Number | Source Blog <- CLICK TO READ All the best Maz
Great article! I was only able to experience these toys through KOs and reissues, but I've really enjoyed them. Notably, my Universe 2.0 Superion's leg part suffered from GPS, so I took a spare part from another (the Decepticon, I think) to make a custom to match. I just sprayed it gold and white. Micromasters are just terribly fun anyways
I also think it was really nice how distinguishable the reissues were from the originals. Especially Sixwing. The chase figures are gorgeous too, I have (and am trying to sell) the white Sixwing, and I saw the red Sixtrain at a show this year. It was truly nicer than I would've imagined. All the best Maz
Great article, I'm a big fan of these guys. I have a complete set of the Japanese reissues and variants, here are some photos of them, with some in lesser seen modes.
Yeah, that was a fun day setting that up, it's not every day I crack open my original Star Convoy and Sky Garry. Still need Grandus though, I can find a decent Dagbase, but never Grandus
Good stuff. Yet another collecting segment that I knew nothing about. I think that the mini Constructicon set and the train set are my favorites.
