Cool but I have a bad feeling Transformers won't make it past nomination. There are some big names in there like Hot Wheels, Rubik's Cube, and the pogo stick. With twelve nominations and only two making it in it may be an up hill battle. I do find it odd that half of the nominations aren't already in the Hall of Fame since there are already 46 toys in there.

Yeah, I'd be shocked if Transformers got any further in the process. I'm almost positive that it's the youngest of the 12 nominees. Someday, but not today.

Seems like an even 50/50 shot to me. There are several candidates with more 'classic' status, but Transformers is about as high-profile now as it might ever be.

Transformers is to this in the same way as Rush is to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

    Icon status? Check.

Optimus is a household name thanks to the live action movies.

    Innovation? Check.

A concept that's kept kicking ass for all this time? Hasbro is always trying to up the previous line as far as features.

    Longevity? Check.

    27 years and counting.

I think the bots have a strong shot at this. In my opinion :)

    Also, Erector.

I thought Transformers have been nominated before. I honestly don't think they can beat out Hot Wheels. They've been around for almost 50 years now.

You mean our franchise isn't already an inductee?! Blasphemy! To the earlier post citing 27 years, if you only mean the brand name marketed by Hasbro in 1984. Transformers goes back to the Takara Diaclone/Microman lines released in the mid 70's. These figures were the early ancestors (so to speak) of the future Transformers line about a decade later. So I'd say Transforming bots as a whole have been waiting long enough.

Transformers should have been the FIRST toy in this thing.

If it doesn't make it, there will be riots.

While Hot Shot did get a crappy toy, the legacy of jaAm will live on. It made it to the Universe Hot Shot toy, at any rate.

Riots? We managed to go 27 years without being in it, something tells me we can survive not winning again relatively peacefully. I'd like to see Hot Wheels get into the HoF, in all honesty. I still like 'em, myself.

Hot Wheels may well have TFs beat for longitivity (no one would dispute that). Icon status? Probably.

But Innovation? Transformers keeps reinventing itself every couple of years! I truly don't think Hot Wheels can hold a candle to TFs for innovation.
