Quick question. Aside from the Big Convoy mould, have there been any toys with a Matrix of some kind that is compatible with standard 5mm fists?

    I don't think there's one that you're looking for, but if you're up for mammoth's convoy's matrix, it'll fit.

I don't think there's any other except mp-09's, mp-10's matrix, mp-1 american retail optimus prime, or at least a few other's that can fit, IF, they have figures that are articulated, more like a big block like so.

Yeah, the Big Convoy matrix is the one I know about. I was just wondering if there were any others that had appeared over the years. If not... That's a bit odd, isn't it?

Probably because the design of the matrix doesnt lend itself to be held by toys without movable fingers. Big Convoy's matrix was designed specifically so he can hold it.

Doesn't Cybertron Optimus have a Matrix with 5mm handles? If I remember correctly, he can hold it because his hands open up, you don't just slide it down into a fist hole. In theory, some figures with 5mm open hands could hold it - That is, if it actually does have 5mm handles at all.

EDIT: Nope, it's got really thin handles, it apparently just kinda sits in his open palm, I guess. Would be nice if I actually owned him so I could have known beforehand.

This is what I was thinking too.

Coincidentally, I was just transforming Big Convoy for the first time in years and remembering how amazing that Matrix was when this toy came out. It's pretty primitive compared to everything else that has come along since. :)

ye know what disappoints me about Big convoy's matrix? in the show he jams it into his gun and fires off massive bursts of "fuck everything" and yet there's no way to stuff his matrix into his gun.

Well sure, the traditional 1986 matrix has that problem, but that's why redesigns are so useful. Live in the now, pops!

I'm not? It's cost prohibitive seeking out any version of the mould just for a tiny accessory, that's all. They're not cheap these days.
