on my original one they split on the first movement, so trying to pop them off would have split them too. youtube is problematic in China, i think for most people it's blocked. businesses that deal internationally can be allowed to bypass the block for marketing purposes, but i doubt customer support is allowed or able to make use of this.
so i SHOULD be getting a replacement BaiHu from 52toys AE. but in the meantime, i put some time into trying to figure out how to salvage the broken tail in case i was offered a refund instead. first thing that came to mind was knock out pins and remove the broken part. unfortunately that ends up leaving me with only about half of the tail left since i had to remove a second section given how the hinge configuration lines up. not ideal but it worked and doesn't look too bad. bonus is that i can still transform it into a cube, less the portion of it that fills it out completely. so the cat now does a playfully peekaboo! next is to attempt fixing the broken segment with maybe some glue and uv resin to be strong enough to put back into action.
In my opinion it looks fine. If you hadn't posted about the issue I wouldn't have noticed. The shorter tail makes it look less like a repaint when paired with the white one.
SO SADLY,… my fix was short lived. i tried to repair the broken link and went to install it, but instead while trying to knock the pin back out, i broke the 2nd link. as well broke the first again while trying to install it. maybe should have just left the short tail as good enough fix and not messed with it further. oh well. i've modeled a replacement link and will try and print and install as my next attempt to fix this.
i don't think it's painted. as discussed before, it's really dark translucent plastic with some metallic green flecks in it.
I'm sad that I've turned on 52. I used to be a huge proponent for them but lately it's just hard to do anymore.
LoL, i hear ya. i've been falling away more and more from 52toys. just too many issues and complaints i've had with them.
That's the other head for the boar, isn't it? I'm a bit of a sucker for the octopus based on colour (Missed out on the repaint for. Obvious reasons), the colours on that one looks like it'll stand out for sure, not many other pink ones aside from tha axolotl and flamingoes
damn, i really want these three and can't wait until they are available online somewhere. time to print off more oct goggles in pink this time. as well as another owl perch. there were other larger box releases before. can't recall which ones off the top of my head, but are these the same as those, or another size yet again? glad thing i got the bitcon one sale at a discount and with coupons that made it almost a reg release price from 52toys AE when the opportunity was there.
not sure how i feel about those eyes. octopus DEFINITELY needs some goggles. i see that they put some interesting tribal markings on the new boar. again not sure how i feel about those just yet.
In the wild boars don't have tribal markings, but when in captivity they can form after a few years. Release the boars!
