just follow @foxracing videos on YT! ;)

on a side note, i booked some print time today and spent about 5 hours there and took advantage of the many colours available, including a spool of GID! o_O

revisited my perch design and started to do some colour matching to the respective avian. completed the birds, and still need to do a few more for the owls and stratos. i printed a blue for nocture but it's too light a blue and will maybe use that for havok instead. think i'll go with black for nocture, maybe beige/cream for white noise, and orange for stratos.

Too many really good ones to choose from, but here are several that I hold in high regard (with respect to current availability):
    1. The dogs
    2. Crabs (any)
    3. Any of the insects: Reaper or Demon Dart (Gunpowder is a great one!)
    4. Shark (any)
    5. Birds (parrot and owl molds are both excellent)
    6. Ricochet
    7. Kirin
    8. ... and if you're collecting, you should probably have at least one Dio mold :)

As far as "keeping only one", I have several that I consider prized possessions so I don't have a specific answer on that. Hope this helps!

I would perhaps suggest one not buy the shark or the kirin without some consideration. The kirin looks great in beast mode, but personally its transformation is tedious and I cant quite say shark, but the croc remold is quite annoying and frankly its plastic doesn't feel great. If you buy kirin solely for display i think its great.

If you find yourself interested in the pteradactyl and panda and anky, id suggest the firefighters hero pack which is selling them at 80 bucks together. Its barely a deal with havok at 30, and thrashhard and karmakuma selling for 27 respectively

Wish it had head swivel. Thats possibly the only issue with this figure. If we get a metroplex though, I'm sure that fig won't have the same issue

Are you making another run of these for us to purchase? I've always thought they looked neat, but haven't grabbed any. I'm thinking I might want to pick up 2 or 3 for some of the birds I've acquired over the past year.

    Very cool!

If I could offer a little constructive feedback on the perches, I've noticed on mine that after a few days of an Owl perched atop, they have started to bow slightly, making the connection loose, and when re-arranging the display, the perch-with-figure-on-it will fall off the box if I'm not careful.

    Example:

If there's a way to strengthen/thicken the parts where they clip and the middle of the bar, I'm not completely certain but i think reinforcing these areas might help alleviate the flex that I've seen in mine:

if i thicken the clip/tabbing area, then you no longer can stack a wall of BBs together, and that was the whole purpose of me creating these perches.

as for adding more material to the bar, i followed the design of the original perch and hollowed the bottom out. but maybe making it one solid piece may reduce the bowing your getting, though i've never seen/heard it flexed that much before.

do you live in a hot place or is your house relatively cool? unfortunately PLA gets soft when warm. however you can easily correct your issue by gently heating it up with a blow dryer and gently shaping and bending it back the other way, and then dunk it in cold water and you should be good. also maybe if you overcompensate with the reset and bend it a little more that straight, you may find the issue go away, or at least prolong the time it bows again.

i'm gonna hit you up in PM to follow up with you on the issue you're having. ;)

    Ahhh! That makes total sense!
The temperature range in the room is 60-80F, it's climate controlled and they're in a display cabinet not near anything hot.
Awesome, I will try that. I've done that with plastic miniatures before so the practice is familiar. :)
    Cheers!

I'm no engineer (well, not structural at least) but could you add a support under the middle instead? So it can rest on the top of the box?

yeah, but that would make it look ugly i think. :p

to make it more rigid, i could have forgone carving out the underside, or a number of other things. but i wanted it not only to be functional, but simple and elegant looking.

personally i haven't had any bowing issues, but i also haven't really had any of them perched 24/7 on them. but i also know if they do start bowing, it's an easy enough fix of warming them up and warping them back while soft, then cold setting them hard again.

i did move the pegs closer for the owls, so maybe that change in weight distribution to being more in the centre vs to the ends, and also the possibility the owls just weigh more may attribute to the perches bowing more in those instances?

i'm going to perch my pair of owls for a week and see what happens for me. ;)

@edgecrusher be very gentle with your heating and bending. PLA gets soft fairly fast.
