Wow, thats pretty cool. I was half expecting that starwars kid. Looks kinda like Starwars 'The High School Days'
I must say, I'm terribly impressed. They were fantastic. The moves they used were definitely unorthodox and excellent. (especially the first Lightsaber impalement) Their choreography was excellent...especially the rolling on the floor. Lucas, you and your buddies may have some serious competition. Incredible...I'd love to know what they used for lightsabers that could handle that kind of abuse. They'd have to either be fantastic actors and pretend there's blades there, or they made blades that are just absolutely indestructible. 5.5 out of 5.0 stars.
Wooden dowel rods, or PVC Pipe, I would imagine. Somewhere in the dark depths of my hard drive I have a video done by somebody who was just practicing various techniques for making light saber videos. He didn't put the light FX in in every shot. I think it was painted wither white and red, or red and yellow. It was broad stripes, at regular intervals. I would lean towards wood, since PVC would have a lot of bounce, when the blades connect, and it doesn't like to hold paint.
I saw the first death comming a mile away, but yeah it was pretty impressive. There where certain points that just look ridiculous and obviously amatuer. On the other hand I found it, on the whole, to be far more entertaining than EP I & II.
That was the best thing since the dancing soundwave, if we are lucky this will get posted every few months too. seriously... it was very well done and i'm not a huge star wars fan.
My only gripe was they could have gone the extra mile and done some better costuming. Other than that, great!
You guys haven't seen this before? I've had it on my harddrive almost two years now. I believe Ryan Wieber got a job with LucasArts at one point after this came out. It's a great piece of work. It's what inspired me to make my own.
I thought it was great. I liked the fact that it was two guys in street clothes as opposed to being in costume. I wonder if either of them had taken fencing classes (and no I don't mean wood shop ). Id hate to think how long it took them to do the rotoscoping OUCH.
Very nice choreography. Lucas should learn a thing or two from them. That fight beats anything from Ep. I & II imo.
