Conflicts of interest are allowed, just declare them. This is a small niche industry and part of the reason the 3p boards are fun is that it allows direct communication between companies and supporters. We know there are people here who have ties to different companies.

Try and keep the arguing until after we've got some results yeah?  

Already we're getting some interesting results... barely anyone has completed nominations in all the categories. In previous years people have always had opinions about 3p releases even if they haven't bought loads. Interesting times.

Best MP Style 3P Toy of 2018

• I really enjoyed the OX stuff this year. Hellion is an awesome Cliffjumper. I think the lower abdomen is not an eyesore and the red finish on his plastic give him a stunning shelf presence. I just wished they did away with the interior of the car. It makes the toy feel flimsy and none of my other cars have it so why start now?
• Furor and Riot are the best of the cassette bots from OX so far. They have the paint that Jaguar is missing and the quality is miles better than the shoddy vultures. I dislike the inclusion of the motorized pistons and the bases which brought the price higher than it should have been.
• FT Quietus is an all around nice figure. Looks great with Sovereign and has one of the more enjoyable FT transformations. Minus points for the cockpit piece that doesn't sit flush and the paint rub on the chest from the knee pads when you transform him.

• I feel like the Alpha/Stray mold from MMC is the best they ever did. In some aspects he is even better than Flame Toys Drift. No criticism and this gave me confidence in MMC as a company after the disaster that was 2017 with Boreas and the Mallum Militia. If I had something to criticize It would be the ugly tabs on Strays shoulders and some of the proportions (hip skirts and shoulders).
• Ok, so Planet Xs toys don't have the best quality and Charon has the wrong tone of teal. However he is all the Hasbro release was not and I really enjoyed his engineering. From the three Planet X toys I have he is clearly the best one.
• MMC Magna is solid and a joy to transform. What I don't like are the inclusion of LED lights and that they didn't paint the bronze details on his back completely.

• After a complete absence last year MMC made my year with the Alpha/Stray mold. I just wished they would put out more Reformatted stuff
• MakeToys is here because I liked their G1 Skycrow a lot even with the hallow wings. Where the wing fillers actually released? Sad to see that they didn't put out more releases this year, especially in their Cross Dimensions line (I had already Thunder Erebus, so no need for Thunder Manus). Also where is Galaxy Skycrow???
• Fans Toys.... well it is complicated. I usually like the more complicated transformation like Apache and Koot. However their Rouge is easily their worst figure after Tesla and Lupus (which I also got this year) is pretty lackluster. However Dracula and Quietus are good so a net positive I guess

• Needs to go to Ocular Max no doubt. 2017 was a disaster but 2018 proved that they still have it in them. They are not back at Sphinx level yet but they released good figures. For 2019 I wished they could improve their build quality more and do less wrong design decisions (at least for my preferences). As good as Hellion is he still feels flimsy (the doors, the wheels on his feet and the steering wheel). Their Assaultus on the other hand looks more like an entry in the Reformatted line with dense and thick plastic which is good.

• Not really anything to add here but I really like the Maas Toys Unrustable Ba$tards first toy release which I got this year. It made me buy into the Tetra Jet crowd-funding campaign (I hope that comes out).

Looking back at 2018 I feel that my interest shifts from Transformers to something else. For me it is mostly waiting for companies to announce a bot I don't have from a company I like. A good portion of the enthusiasm I had during the last few years is evaporated.

The only thing that got me really excited Transformers wise was the Flame Toys Kuro Kara Kuri line. Drift is awesome and I can't wait to get their Tarn (which is held hostage in customs at the moment) and their Star Saber got me so hyped that I sometimes forget I have other collections. I'm actually thinking to sell my G1 MP collection to replace them with every Flame Toys release that comes out.

What I'm really looking forward in 2019 are the Reformatted Cross Dimensions lines. Masterpiece is on the back burner for me. I generally have the feeling that the Transformers collecting (3rd party and official) is on a down swing at the moment. Don't know if 2018 was the bottom of the barrel.

Since no year for me would be complete without bashing MP Star Saber I got the reissue of KFCs Simba recently and he is as crappy as Star Saber. No wait I take that back; he is actually better than Star Saber but he lacks paint and feels like a big toy which I don't like. I should really stop throwing good money after bad.  

[edit:] Flame Toys Tarn came in and he is clearly one of the best toys I got this year and clearly my Transformers toy of the year.

Wow, really struggled with this for a couple of weeks. Feels like it has been a very dry year, either that or my enthusiasm for toys and 3P have really waned. There are a few bits like CD Buster Stealthwing, KFC Buster and Hydra and IF DJD I'm really looking forward to, but they look to be next year now.
