My wife is going to HK and leaving me with the kids for 10 days. As reward for releasing her from the bonds of parenthood - I might ask her to grab me a couple 3rd party figures. Are there any good retail spots that you guys would recommend? I'd be looking for: i) Name ii) Address iii) Website (if applicable) Any help would be appreciated! Thank you. rub
Check out Action Robo. Webiste: Contact Us Their address is in the link. Also, just south of Action Robo on Nathan Rd, there is a mall call In's Point on the NE corner of Nathan Rd and Waterloo Rd. They have a bunch of small shops that sell 3rd party stuff too.
These should be enough. If you want to know more, you can post on www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/hong-kong-transformers-sightings.155092/ or ask @unicronic.
copied from another person: The best places to go are In's Point and Sino Centre on Nathan Road in Mong Kok. Sino Centre - On the 3rd Floor, there's Hobbybase, which is a TF-only shop. (well, they also sell some random marvel figures, but they are mostly TF) They have a pretty good MP display cabinet and many times they are the first to have in-hand pictures on TFW. (like the MP SG Optimus is from their FB page) On the 1st and 2nd floors there are a few shops, one of which is last chance toys (check out their FB). They are selling MP shockwave for 599 HKD and Delta Magnus for 750 HKD in shop now. IN's Point: a few random TF shopws, just check out the place. It's more famous for being a Lego centre though. In between the two, there's the physical location for Action Robo. It's pretty well stocked with 3P figures and accessories, one of the few places in HK you can find those at retail. If you are looking for KOs go to Sham Shui Po, you will be amazed at how cheap the stuff is compared to what you are paying on Ebay.
Action Robo is in a seemingly regular-looking building that doesn't really stand out. Once you go inside, you have to take the elevator up to get to there. They have weird open hours. (weird compared to what I'm accustomed to here in the States) Toyer City within the Ins Point Mall, 2/F, Shop 278A Contact Us
One of the best things about 3rd party shopping in HK is two large retailers are in HK. Robotkingdom & Chimungmung. So if you have a definitive shopping list, you could actually have them delivered to your home/hotel etc. The same applies for Action Robo and ToyerCity. If you would rather run around HK looking just remember that HK is tiny and so are the shops. Action Robo and Toyer City have physical locations to check out. Yahoo Auctions is also a great place to look at to see what is on actual shelves right now but you need to read Traditional or Simplified Chinese (or use google translate). I just order from a retailer who delivers now. If you're willing to drop $100+ a few more to get it to your front door is nothing really.
Thanks for all the feedback guys. My wife is going on a trip and she has no patience for any of this so I was looking ideally for a shop where I could pay for everything and then she can just go pick it up. I like Tony @ Chimungmung and I'm waiting to hear back from him. Do you guys know if he has a physical store?
For all of these physical stores that sell tfer toys in HK, I'm assuming that during the Chinese New Year holiday, a lot of places close down. What can I expect from places like Action Robo and Ins Point? How long do they close, if at all?
