I am off to tfcon. I know there are multiple Predakings out there. Of them, which is the most like a MP g1 version?

 

None of them are MP, but the answer is MMC

UT for the most like G1, but most like G1 is not the same as 'best'.

 

MMCs Rex is the closest you will get to an MP Predaking.

unique Toys is the closest to the G1 toy look perhaps from what I saw in person at Botcon. But owning 3 ofthe MMC Feral Cons I can't imagine anyone not wanting these even if they are G1 purists as long as they can afford it. They are great figures in design and quality.

 

Yes and no, individually MMC's are scaled near perfectly for mps. Combined mode mp predaking is impossible as it would need to be taller than generations metroplex.

So rex is the closest to being "mp predaking".

 

Rex is the closest to MP scale. I have the first 3 on display with my MP's and they look fine. They are the only set that will be close to the correct size. UTs is probably a closer match to G1 style but they are smaller.

 

Please don't say that. My wallet is already hurting...

 

MMC is an awesome looking masterpiece to me. I won't need another.

 

NO mp scale.

MMC looks most like actual Predacons and looks best in bot and combined mode, whilst UT is an update of G1 toys and looks very good in combined form. As for TFC, well, they look more like beastwars with Predacons colors, but combined mode seems to look good. They all have their plus and minus, but MMC wins for me because of Quality Built and Engineering, Fun Play and Transformation, Nice Paint Apps, Excellent Bot and Combined mode while Alt mode is sacrificed.

 

I would stay away from the Unique Toys version. It has multiple issues with it including breaking parts (loose or too tight joints), etc. And, once you see the individual items you will not be impressed by them in robot or beast mode. Design for individual items is extremely limited/lacking. Set only looks good together as PredaKing. Unique Toys version just doesn't seem to warrant the price point quality wise.

most like a G1 cartoon version with modern toy technology, engineering and detail? MMC. Botmodes are MP sized but not MP detailed (except mine, yoink). but when predaking is formed, theres a lot of collapsing of size so the gestalt is more classics sized.

I would look at is this way.

Unique Toys version are G1 versions with modern engineering and scaled for Generations deluxes.

MMC are G1 versions at a larger size (voyager-ish) with modern engineering

TFC are rebooted versions of the original concepts scaled for voyager except the leader who is massive.

I have both unique toys Warlord, and 3 of MMC's Feral Cons. Unique Toys Warlord should be the least expensive out of the 3, is more Classics style, and closest to what the G1 figures are like. MMC's Feral Cons are slight updates to the G1 Charcters, and are near Masterpiece in scale, the quality is best, but are a little more expensive. Lastly there are TFC's. I own Hercules, and Uranos, but passed on Ares-their not Predaking. Slightly taller than MMC's. But, the updated classics look of the figures is just not as nice as MMC's.

So if you have the money, and are looking for the closest to Masterpiece size and quality, go for MMC's Feral Rex. And look up a video on MMC's Leo Dux. That's the figure that sells me on MMC. That is what I would call an amazing almost Masterpiece Razorclaw! Wow

 

If these guys convince you to get a MMC Predaking you should do a little research on the messed up elbows some figures have. And be careful when doing normal things like putting weapons in their hands.

 

How exactly is Rex closest to "MP Scale" when Ares is taller?

 

UT Warlord is the closest to G1 and is currently the cheapest since a bunch of stores are clearancing the complete set for around $300, but is no where near MP quality. Closesr to MP style is the MMC Feral Rex, though a "true" MP Predaking would have to be at least twice the size of Feral Rex.
