I was wondering if a few of you could give me your opinion on this 3d version of tidlewave I have been creating over the past week. To make him look more evil than what he does in the energon series, I decided to mix the texture work a bit between the armada and energon version of him. Look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

Nice looking model and effects. It looks like you blended together ML Shockwave and E-Tidal Wave, though, with the lightning patterns.

I particularly like the scenery you placed him in, and your lighting as well as water texture. However, the texture on him needs some work. Some of the areas, like his turrets, don't look rough enough to be metal, and the label is far too saturated.

The modelling is pretty good, though the robot mode leaves something to be desired. He seems awefully flat, but i haven't seen the toy, so it might be a moot point.

    storm surge

    Those look great !
I'm not sure if tidal wave looks more menacing but the lighting and cloud effects are working for you.
A rainy night like that on open water would scare just about anyone.
water adds lots of highlights and reflections to metal .
i could see more reflective lighting effects on large surface areas .

the alt mode picture is tops. how about some variation in turret directions? maybe a land mass or something for size ref.?just some thoughts....
    nice mood and structure.
tidal waves imposing stature shows. excellent work keep it up!

Oh my lord...that image of Tidal Wave is the one that sent chills down my spine in the video game. EXCELLENT capture of him. The menacing leviathan.

I'd firstly like to say thanks to everyone who left me there feedback on my work, happy with the responses. I noticed Shumworld is asking if these images are from the game, the position and pose I put him in are similar poses that are used in the game (and a great game it is aswell). The work and images are my own though, I just liked the stance they used in the game and put my own in a similar position.

The lightning patterns on him are the ones that are in the energon series, which I prefered to the armada version, but didn't think he would look as scary if I went all the way with the energon version (which is mostly white) so I mixed some parts with the armada and energon version of him. The energon toy (not got the armada version) is sure a great toy to buy. As long as you dont plan to make money from them, please happily download them and use them as your desktop wallpaper if you like.

I'm now moving onto the animation stages of him transforming (which will certainly take a while). Thanks again, good luck to anyone else doing similar work. Cheers.

Cool, but I find the Decepticon logo to be a little out of place on the model. I'd go with a solid color and let the lighting give it reflections. The Water/Lighting effects do make it hard to give an accurate asessment overall. Could you post a pic of just model? (w/o the water)

wow nice model there. i love the water effects and the rain too. to me other then adding say some generic paneling to make him look bigger on his larger flat surfaces to break it up (even a small fractal texture), give him an extra finger on each hand and increase the size of the barrels to his turrents, you will have a nicely done tidalwave model.

i look forward to seeing more of your work in the future :D

He is a polygon model, which took quite a bit of tweaking of vertices to create. As I'm guessing you know, practically everyone prefers modelling in polygons over nurbs, but I've worked with both and also enjoy patch modelling alot.
