    The 3D models of prime_prints ・ Cults

Inspired by my very own CR10s Pro 3D printer, seems to be a fairly competent modernisation, definitely superior to a communications van thingy imo. His ability to make troops appear from his body certainly makes more sense I guess though the same can’t be said for the name soundwave.

    Epilogue:
The cybertronian war was coming to an end, the deceptions hurried to find any means of changing the tide of their imminent defeat
Shockwave developed time-travel technology (Heavy/Scratch: - Delorean Transformer) time-travel alone would not be enough to bring victory, reinforcements from a divergent timeline were only logical.

    Bio:
I introducing 3D printer soundwave heralding from an alternate timeline in which the deceptions awoke in the early 2020s. 3D printer soundwave holds the unique ability of conjuring troops from energon infused fillament. Operation: reinforcements!

That rocks! Definitely grabbing the files once it goes up on Cults. Not sure when I'll get to printing it... but oh well.

With the little epilogue, I'm left to wonder if Blaster is an SLA printer in this universe? lol.

    Thanks!
    Absolutely!
    Thanks!
    Could well be
I printed it really small because my other 3D printed transformers take ages, didn’t want really scale in robot mode but works really well as a 3D printer accessory for other bots, I’ll get a picture of that later!
The transformation isn’t that complex but you do need to remove the print bed and put it back on to get soundwaves head out I do like flipping the front of the printer around thought at the feet

Tempting - not sure if I want to drop $3 just to find out I can't print it the way I want for some reason though.

Got any pics of the separate parts or build plates? Are there options to split the parts into different plates for different colors? I don't see anything on that site with details.

I may reduce or remove the price but I’m a novice so I think $3 dollars justified the work I put in, then again I may be being a bit arrogant here

I gave it a shot and downloaded it and printed one up last night. It came out 99% amazing. The tolerances were really good across the board, the parts all fit really well. Only issue was the pegs on the arms were a little loose, I had to bulk them up to get them tight. The other pegs all fit tight. The way the hips plug into the body is really clever, with the front skirt being just long enough keep them from popping out. The amount of partforming is minimal- I thought there would be more, honestly. Only the bed and the gun (and laserbeak of course) detach, I was happily surprised that the printer frame could stay on the arms.

A couple suggestions - a lot of the parts had really strange default orientations to the bed. They either didn't lay flat or needed to lay flat on a different face to get the best ratio of detail to support needed. I used cura to move them around and fixed that for the most part. I printed most of it at .12 layer height and details really popped when printed at the new orientations.

Another suggestion is to create more flat bottoms on the parts so they can print with no support or print more easily - like the head and the pegs. I laid the pegs down sideways and shaved off just a little so they could print. Same with the head - I shaved off the round bottom so it could print straight up and down. None of those changes affected functionality. The biggest problem was the gun/x carriage. It's a good part, but it's near impossible to get a good clean print of since there are no long flat sides, the amount of support needed killed the detail. I would redesign that part so the bottom is flat and can print with no support, maybe make the extruder a separate part that plugs into it or glues on to accomplish this.

It took about five hours to print all the parts the way I wanted. I will post pics of mine later tonight. I might download your delorean for my next project.

I forgot to ask - what's the hole through the extruder part on the gun for?

Was considering doing the whole g1 megatron stock and silencer cannon with the printer kibble but decided against it but left the hole in case it could still be useful

That’s awesome! It would be interesting to know how your design differed from mine because I made most of this up as I went along
