First of all I dont know how it took me so long to see this. Second of all this thing is awesome. Really good detailing and transformation scheme. The articulation is also impressive. @BattleGurijiba's idea of doing a Star Saber retool sounds cool too. I dont jnow much about riptide but if it keeps up the style and engineering then I'm interested. As far as weapons go, I think the stowable sword is probably enough.
Thank you. Your feedbacks have always been great. I’m the same with Star Saber in regards to me not knowing a lot about the IDW Star Saber. The sword looks good to me at the moment. I’ve printed multiple in fear of errors or snapping but they’re all holding up perfectly! Resin from Amazon is trapped at the post office so Cyclonus’ legs are technically trapped there too! Poor Cyclonus. The gun hands look amazing! Will have to give those a go sometime! The Improvised weapon will be cool if I had some clear resin! Would be easy and a quick sculpt. Thank you for the suggestions!
The resin has finally arrived and I was able to print the rest of Cyclonus. That ankle swivel of sorts really helps balance the figure, especially in these sorts of running poses. Even stands fine with one leg firmly off the ground. I’m happy with that. Looking forward to seeing his alternate heads printed. His sword still stores in the back. In future prints the peg hole will have to go all the way through. Tailgate is too big for this Cyclonus. With the upcoming fix of the toy, I’ll scale Tailgate down by at least 75%. His jet mode looks fine. Wished his wings were further along the back of his alt mode but I’ll say it’s ‘inspired’ by the MTMTE look. Had to spray on a layer of primer onto Cyclonus because they ran out of Grey resin, so this Cyclonus, under the primer, does in fact have a black pair of trousers on.
Thank you. The thing I love about that picture is you can see the added articulation between the first project (Whirl) and the most recent (Cyclonus). I hope in future projects I can add even more articulation, maybe an ab crunch, and a heel.
Thanks. I’ll need to get some paint off eBay first. Might be a while till I get to sit down and paint him, school works been piling up. Will start or continue on existing projects in the meantime.
Finally painted Cyclonus up. I’m quite happy with how he turned out and the purple looks nice in my MTMTE crew. With the paint on, actually helps hold the joints a little tighter. I dont have any silver at hand so did a light white spray transition to the great sword. Looks ok. The yellow in the shins are the parts I’d like to go back and fix one day, when I get some Tamiya yellow. At the time of the picture of this alt mode, I hadn’t printed the right hip skirt connector, but it gives a good idea what it looks like. I like how he looks next to Whirl, but shows how not articulated my Whirl is. Will film a review of Cyclonus soon and will be releasing the files to Cults to anyone who’s interested. Thanks for reading.
Cyclonus' files are now available here on CULTS3D: Download STL file Transforming 'LAVENDER' Figure • 3D printer template ・ Cults Also took some time to create an assembly instruction booklet. Transformation instructions in youtube video.
