Not a fan of the stumpy elbows and low + skeletal shoulder joints for CW Megatron, and I felt that it was so near to being THE definitive megatron. I needed a leader for my MPs, so I designed some printed designs to improve on it.

Haven't painted it black/gunmetal yet, but damn, looks a lot nicer!

You'll have to unscrew some parts, but its pretty much a fool-proof mod. Initial idea was to shift the connecting joint upwards and to the back. Tank transformation is more or less identical except for the gap between the tank body and turret.

Had a new idea, decided to do away with the internal mechanism of the turret so that the arms could peg in more securely. Created a new part that would serve as connector between the body and the arm. Parts are non-permanent so you could always swap between the old connector version (more floppy but arms could swivel forward/backward) or the newer peg version (eliminates swivel movement but 100% secure).

That actually looks really good, I might have to but a pair if you put them on shapeways.

Looks great. They should have been included in a thrird party add-on. Also, the hinged turret from that (better?) knock-off Megs should have been included in a third party add-on. Maybe you could sell your stuff to a third party company, like perfect effect?

Also, what do you mean about "losing swivel"? Do the arms not move anymore?

It looks like the turret doesn't rotate after the mod. Also looks like the second mod doesn't allow for transformation. Bot mode looks spot on however

I think he means you can't swivel the arms forward to form the tank turret anymore (since it removes the swivel joint there.)

Really liked the first idea. you should consider putting those on shapeways. They'd be an easy purchase for a lot of people.

Thanks. The shoulder mods (ver 2) can be slide off easily. So you can transform the arms separately before putting it back for tank mode. The first version allows for transformation.

Plus, the first and second version is interchangable. Basically its just a "plug" version which you can omit. My idea was to cater to collectors that don't play to transform their megatron and wanted to opt for a more stable look.

It was just a small idea I had, and damn sure that I won't be pursuing it any more (originally planned to print out the entire swivel mechanism but decided the effort is not worth the result)

Anyway, the design is up for FREE in thingiverse. Just download and print it (or send to shapeways for printing). I claim no copyright so feel free to modify or whatever.

Here's the download link for the .stl file...

I've re-uploaded the .stl file for the shoulder. Didn't realise I sent the wrong one instead last time.
