I felt like DotM did best with taking some of those designs and kinda smoothing them out a bit. I loved Sentinel Prime's design. Sideswipe is one of my favorite movie characters though, and my all time favorite out of the Bay movies, so I'm with you on him at least. I just loved his "Damn I'm good" line, lol But reason I don't say he's my favorite movie character is I feel the BB movie is gonna present new favorites for me. Bumblebee, yes, but also Optimus and some others.
I think there is a very good chance BB will end up being easily the best of the bunch. The fact that they're doing a wide sneak screening weeks before it opens tells me they think the same. They want people out there saying this is good and not just Bayformers robo boomsplosion sexathon part 6. I love the Bay movies (more or less), but objectively they're all terrible- some way more than others. I'm really hoping we might finally have a real movie in our hands here. (I'll probably love it wether or not it's good)
I would exclude 07 from the rest. It's the only one that I know is universally praised by everyone I know, even people who absolutely hate bayformers say it's a good movie.
That is the thing if you want lots of articulation that you have to give up alot of thins like transformation but still this is truly amazing!
Certainly the least bad- but there is also a distinct lack of transformer action (for budget and learning curve reasons) leaving us with a lot of goofy teen comedy. Personally I thought dotm was the most effective mix of great action, interesting premise and not too much stupid story. Don't get me wrong, it's not great either but it delivers the reasons I actually went to tf movie on a level far beyond the first movie. I like to think movie 1 had the best script.
I really like TF1. It's my favorite one so far. I enjoyed the designs and certain aspects (ahem...Forrest battle) of TF2, but feel like Bay should be punched in the face for every bad joke made. I still cringe at the mojo/frankie and Wheelie/Megan Fox humping scenes. Some poor VFX guy had to actually animate that crap. TF3 was cool except for the same old Mcguffin plot and Cybertron coming that close to earth without causing the Apocalypse. Other than for Lockdown, the other movies aren't worth mentioning to me.
I definitely agree with most of that. Bringing it back to the bumblebee movie, I won't get my hopes up for the visuals because I've only seen a few of the clips and the transformations cheat so blatantly that it's insane. I remember watching how blitzwings cockpit just folds in on itself and goes right through his own body and knew they were going to be faking all these parts to the point where it's going to be obvious. There's a clip of bee turning into a bot that's so bad I almost see why they just decided to go with transformium for a whole movie.
That's for sure. TF trailers are awesome! That's how they hook you. Heck, let those who edit the trailers direct the movie!
