Yeah, stuff like this is why I never watch the news, local or national. I'd rather not know.

Maybe TFW could just make a seperate 'News' forum where the last active theard's title isn't displayed on the main forum list.

Yup, pools kill more young kids than basically anything else in a household, statistically. Note how the predominant causes of death change over time though.

    I have two kids.

    I like guns and cars.

Might even combine them one day:)

However, it is a simple thing to watch you damned kids..................

I'm gonna make me some deer jerky next time they(eliminate traffic fatalities) wander in my yard(lots of open space since we pulled out the pool), although its gonna be a bitch using my dinner knife and fork(I only have them until I find a suitable alternative) since I threw the guns out;)

    Seriously, watch your damned kids.

In any other developed country, this would be an unimaginable, heart-rending tragedy.

In the United States, it doesn't even make the front page.

Hang on hang on, Kinder Egg are actually illegal in the US? I thought that was a joke...

Also anybody that leaves guns lying around needs to be charged with negligence.

Agreed. The NRA exists only on the behalf of gun companies. They don't represent me or my ideals.

I think people should have a gun if they so chose. However, those people should also be binded to get training and licensing for said item. Any corporation that fights against that, I don't support.

That's why we need guns. To go hunting!

We make the world a safer place that way.

    Exactly. This makes perfect sense.

Now this may get political. But the problem is that none of the politicians have any balls left. They are all a bunch of useless tool bags that can not even make "common sense" laws.

Hey, you have something that's sole purpose of existing is to hurt or kill, maybe the people in the household should be licensed and trained.

And you know what, people are gonna gasp when I say this, but the kids should also be trained. Everyone who I know that owns a gun has taught their kids what a gun is. Taught them it is NOT a cool toy. Showed them the power of it, and why it needs to be respected.

The problem is dumb parents who own guns, don't secure them and think it is better to avoid the conversation with their kids about the firearm.

Sorry, this is tragic, but this is on the parent for not taking the proper precautions. I feel bad for that parent, because they will know this forever.

Firearms training for kids? I'm not sure I'd be up for that, but teaching them the power of firearms woyld be good.

Y'know, let them rear a bunny for a week then shoot it kinda thing.

Too harsh? Better a bunny than your kid brother.

Probably because in the USA, dumb parents don't pay attention to their kids eating and opening food, thus kids choking. Seriously, it's not that hard and you have to be really dumb as a child to not notice that the toy in the hollow chocolate is inside a bright, orange (or yellow) capsule and that plastic isn't edible.

But when i was a kid, the toys were in these kind of capsules and they were horrible and bloody hard to open (at times I had to use my teeth, which is probably a huge choking hazard on it's own) But now they changed them to plain yellow and to open the lil container, you would just have to squeeze the sides of it.

Since I was not exposed to that in the past I would agree.

But I have had 3 friends with kids. All 3 of them have taken their kids to a firing range and showed them what a gun can do, and explained why it is so dangerous and so forth.

All those kids, all of them, you ask them if guns are toys, or if they should be pointed at people for fun, they will all tell you no. And tell you exactly why.

So, yeah, I think when you are raised with respect towards fire arms, you are much less prone to things.

Now if your kid has mental illness, that's a whole other story. But a license can take into account a psychological profile. Granted the government doing psychological profiles can be a joke, so that probably won't work, but some new rules should be made.
