Crotch panel problems have been on every version of the mold.

Reading through a lot of old reviews makes me think that the wings staying in place has always been a problem as well.

Yeah, my Armada Unicron has floppy wings (you're supposed to use the planet shells to hold the wings up, but I remove them to make him look sleeker), and I originally had 2 Armada Unicrons, and my younger brothers managed to lose the crotch panels on the 2nd one. So those are common issues.

I dont have this new version yet, but I have to say it's very nice how well this mold holds up. Armada is usually considered a dud in terms of articulation and aesthetic, and Supreme class figures usually have to sacrifice articulation for stability and gimmickry. But here, an Armada Supreme toy, a toy that's over 7 years old, still manages to fit in with the Classics line and be dynamically poseable. Truly one of HasTak's finest accomplishments, and properly befitting the character.

I really love the color of this toy. Unicron-WMD's comparison pics and with his sketch rendering really show how accurate the Amazon version is.

I didnt realize the major difference the head made until I looked at pics of the old Unicron. Mine is in storage but yech now that Im getting this new one.

For the loose wings I've always used those little clear rubberbands that are usually packaged with a figure to hold them up. Just wrap them around the wing and base of the claw on his shoulder and you're golden.:thumbs2:

Damn - just as I've decided that he's worth picking up, Amazon has to lose their own exclusive to the scalper community...who then uses Amazon.com to sell it.

The lowest price for him now is $125. Forget it.

    Aaaand...

    Pros:
. For something fundamentally similar to the original Armada Unicron as it is, it does come off quite different as well

. All the metallic-colored plastic and paint looks impressive on display, and helps accent the detail in the sculpt.

. The new head sculpt is pretty much dead-on to the animation model, though it's up for debate exactly how well it fits in with the rest of the Armada body.

    Cons:
. The age of the mold has made the joints kinda creaky, with several joints a bit too loose or tight. The plastic of this version has a bit more 'give' in it, making it tough to get some of the heavier ratcheted joints going. the planet shell pieces are a more flexible plastic than before, which is sort of a mixed blessing, being easier to muscle around but harder to line up properly. The ring-wings are very loose (always a Unicron problem, but exceptional here), but my old trick of hooking them over the shoulders still works well.

Overall: I'm not a giant fan of the Unicron mold after all these years, but I'm pretty pleased with this. IMO, it's definitely worth the $60 Amazon was selling it for, though maybe not the inflated second-market prices. (or if you strongly prefer the brighter cheery cartoon colors of the 2010 Tomykara version.)

I now own all 4 versions of this mold (Armada, Energon, 2010, Amazon) and this is the best looking one in my opinion. The comparison pics do not do this toy justice. It is the most accurate looking version, especially colorwise, and I cannot recommend it enough.

Amazon will be sticking plenty more of these, so be patient and get it when it's available!

I like this version a lot better than my Armada one. It's not a HUGE deal, but my teeth do not close flush:

I can't say it'll bother me to death. Oh well. My suggestion would definitely be to pick this figure up either through Canadian retail or when Amazon restocks.

you got a packaging error. That was problem with the Takara version too. Both halves have the same teeth when they shouldn't be the same so they can interlock

Got my 2 opened today. One for me and one for my girlfriend.

    Girlfriends is pretty decent.

    Mine has a few issues:

Hole on top of left foot where the mold was not filled all the way with plastic.
The right hand does not light up.
The chest does not fire the missle.

I just noticed that the Amazon Unicron's color scheme is very close to the first toy prototype.
This follows in tradition of the Hasbro Classics toys having G1 toy colors and Takara's toys having animation colors.

I dunno. I feel like Unicron looks more cartoon accurate. Of course Takara has the white face and white accents whereas Amazon has silver. But I think this si how Unicron should look.

I cant seem to get the right fist to light up. The eyes light up but not the fist. Yes the contacts in the neck are touching.

The fist requires a separate set of batteries so you may want to unscrew and check the compartment in the wrist area.
