25% price increase while slightly downsizing by 5-10%, is this just one time deal for the movie voyagers or are they going to continue the trend for future generations voyagers as well?
Considering its world wide i think its here to stay, i use to pick up every toy i came accross now im sticking to a set list
Well, if you want, you can calculate that half of these wont sell and will end up at Ross/TJMaxx/Marshall's etc. So if you average the 2 prices, you get the same price as before. Creative math.
its been $29.99 here in Canada for years- we always told you guys to enjoy your cheap prices while they lasted...
Oh i had to laugh at that prices here use to range between 50-55 now theee 55-70 avarge is 60 Deluxes went from 27-35 to 35-55
That's probably what the price will be for some time. Considering they have been under $20 ($19.99 in most places) for so many years and the trend of price increases with many of the toys (not only Transformers) in the last few years, it will only go up.
So far the only voyager I have is evasion mode optimus and he isn't downsized. He is even slightly taller than HFTD voyager optimus.
If we want to maintain the size/complexity of Voyagers collectors want, then probably yes (and I'm surprised it took this long for Hasbro to bite the bullet on the price increase to begin with)
Whirl (a "regular" Generations Voyager) is currently $19.99 on Hasbrotoyshop, while Galvatron (from the "movie" Generations line) is at $24.99. Now most regular brick & mortar stores are asking $23-$25 for Whirl. Not sure what they want for movie Voyagers. But it was inevitable they move the price up a bit, with deluxes hitting $15 or more at most stores and Voyagers being a bit bigger for just a small difference in price. +-MWG-+
Hasbro stated the MSRP on both Voyagers is now $24.99 for BOTH Classics and movie. HTS is just a bit behind (as they've been in the past).
Target price cuts their figures frequently, so I wouldn't be too concerned. When these don't move as fast at $25, retailers will mark them back down as a "temporary sale." I just got Rhinox and Whirl from Target a few weeks ago at the $19.99 price, they were on a price cut for a week or two. Price has gone back up now, though. Fred Meyer, a regional chain that I guess only exists in the Northwest, has Movie Voyagers at $26.99. Ouch.
I do like that Fred Meyers will occasionally have a 10% off coupon which brings the price down. As it is, it is already about 10-15% more than the lowest retail price. Plus they have more BOGO sales so patience can be great sometimes.
I've never seen a price here to stay. They go up and down. Haven't you paid attention to the way Deluxes have been all over the map the last few years? It won't be long before we see Voyagers drop a couple dollars. Conversely, don't expect $24.99 to be the highest they'll get. I'm sure we'll see $26.99 within a few years, too.
