I just wanted to share some thoughts and pictures of two different 20th prime trailers that exist today. The two I am comparing are the Just Toys version (non-opening) and the New Chinese/Canadian one (the one TFW2005 has a large gallery of and is simply a g1 trailer that was hit by some sort of enlarging ray). I know there are still many people who want one and are still deciding which to get, so maybe these pictures will help the decision. Please forgive the quality of the pics as I had poor lighting, an old camera with a crummy flash, and i'm not a photographer. The first picture shows the box of both versions. The JustToys box is the smaller one on the bottom. Although both look alike, the packaging is much nicer and better on the JustToys version. The next picture is an out of box pic of both side by side. The JustToys version is the shorter one of the two. Here is another picture better showing off the sideviews of both: It should be noted that the stickers are very similar for both versions, but in person the JustToys stickers are more metalic. As already seen, the JustToys version is definately shorter. In fact, it can only hold one alternator inside it: Although the other version is longer, it cannot really hold two either due to containing the gun station for the trailers battle mode. Here's another view of both from a top down perspective. Again, the JustToys version is along the bottom: There are some other differences between the trailers. For one, the backside of the JustToys version is much more detailed, whereas the other version is identical to the original g1 prime's trailer. Opening the rear door of each trailer shows that there is much more room to easily get an alternator inside of the other trailer, whereas there are bars that make it harder to fit alternators inside the JustToys version (right). Looking at the front of each trailer shows that they are extremely similar in that respect with both having a whole in the center: My final picture is from the bottom of each trailer. The larger trailer (left) has opted for a black axle area and black center whereas the JustToys version is blue. However, the upsized G1 Trailer retains the blue "feet" that can swing out for battle mode. I believe the JustToys version used blue to give the illusion those pieces were there when they really aren't: In the end, both trailers are very nice. After shipping, the non-transforming trailer can easily be found for about 40% the cost of the upsized trailer. If you absolutely must have a trailer that can transform, then you should really look into getting the G1 upsized version. It's large, very sturdy, and you can have all the fun with it that you would with a G1 prime. However, if you do not want to transform a trailer, I recommend going with the JustToys version. It's cheaper, looks nicer in person, and I believe it's closer in scale to the 20th Anniversary Prime. Maybe this did or didn't answer questions for people, but if there is anything I can answer, please ask.
Thanks for the write up. I will be doing an in-depth review of the transforming one once mine gets here.
Awesome stuff man thanks! In vehicle mode he looks more G1'ish with the Alts than he does with the other trailer. Really hoping to find one of these eventually. Looks like 20th Prime's going to end up with the non-opening trailer. MP definitely rockin out the opening one. With his shiny smokestacks
I forgot to mention, now having both of these trailers, I really think that hasbro/takara did the right thing by not making one. Sure, but are good, but neither do him 100% justice and a good one from either company would have ratcheted up the price of prime far too much.
on the contrary i can fit Alt Skids and Alt Hound in there together just fine *pets his justtoys trailer* cant beat the price of "free" xD
I hope and pray this thing is still available in a couple of months, when I can actually afford it...
I wonder how the recent transforming trailer compares with the "Mark's Project" one from a while back. Then again, I doubt anybody would be crazy enough to spend the money for both.
Ditto and I'm still happy with the JustToys version. The other is just too large and I can live without the transformation. I've never done that much with any Prime's trailer anyway. I usually have the trailers on my collector shelves with smaller Transformers standing on the roofs.
