I just want to know...what does it mean to have "Transforming" art? The press release repeatedly refers to the cover art being "Transforming art," but, uh, what's that mean? Reversible cover or something?

It's probably lenticular. You know, that bumpy material that changes images as you look at it from different angles.

In fact, in answer to ILoveDinobot's anger over Hot Rod, I would be willing to bet money that the concept is the S1/S2 characters "transforming" into the movie characters as you shift the angle. Meaning, Optimus will turn into Rodimus, Bumblebee into Wheelie, Grimlock into Ultra Magnus, etc, or something along those lines.

That would be nice, I wonder if they will reveal the other artwork then?

Using Don's art on the cover is one of Sony's smartest moves in some time.

No offence to Don, but in my opinion its not as impressive as the art he did for the Madman dvd release. Older one seems more 'movie-like'.

I have never liked any of the Movie's covers.....even the original poster. Rodimus is the leader he shoulda bee in the middle not Magnus. It made him look too weak. If they wanted him on the side, he shoulda been Hot Rod.

Also, this one...Prime never even saw Unicron in the movie. He never opened the Matrix....Meh, it could've been better.

I will still buy it though. No way in hell I'd want to miss it.

No one wants to see hot rod in the movie either.

That picture embodies how the movie SHOULD have been.

Honestly, with how good Don is with a lot of things, I would have expected someone like Guido Guidi or Makoto Ono to do the cover to this; their styles handle Generation 1's "animated" look a lot better.
I do agree that it pales in comparison to the Madman cover.
It's good artwork though(both lines and colors).

Exactly. In fact, Newsarama is reporting this, along with a pic of the OTHER cover

That is exalty what I was talking about in the other thread (in which I was the last one to post?) I'm shocked thye don't have Rodimus/Hot Rod anywhere on the cover, and I thought that Gavlatron would have been where MEgs was

So far the only thing that I don't like about this release is the lenticular cover concept. If it's just on the front and removable... that would be cool with me. If it's not... I will be a little disapointed.

The second cover pic with Magnus and others is a great update to the orginal Movie poster.... I wish they would have just went with that, as it makes the most sense.

Special features : MY GOD !! It's exactly what I have always wanted. Commercials, Commentaries, Trailers.... 16:9 Widescreen (FUCK YEAH !)

I don't care if it came from a widescreen print of not... croped is fine by me. What's important is that the film look as close as possible to the way it played in theatures and was intended to be seen.

So my only concerns at this point are...

..... the correction of distortions of images (it's most obvious when watching the DVD.... Unicron in planet mode isn't round, more egg like). The TF Reconstructed DVD version corrected this problem.

    ..... no added sound effects.

..... a high quality transfer/encodeing. In the R1 special edition DVD ... the bit rate was horrible during scenes with lots of action/detail/movement. The picture would get horribly pixilated.

If these concerns are addressed.... I think we indeed have the perfect TF:TM DVD on our hands.
