Exactly - names in listings are very helpful for the initial determination if a figure is even in my collection scope and i should prepare to buy it. Of course, the final purchase decision is made at reveal of the final product. I don’t feel that's something anyone would dispute.

Yeah, if someone is looking for a figure of a character and know a new one is coming up, they'll be able to wait to see if they prefer the new version that'll be (allegedly) easier to get, or if they should try to hunt down some older prior version.

I mean, that's always going to be the case for many people, right? If you only collect G1 stuff, you can probably "safely" ignore the Armada and Prime listings in the leaks. Maybe you might be pleasantly surprised when they are revealed for real, but for yhe most part, you aren't likely picking up much, if anything, that is outside of your collection scope.

I personally like leaks (including listings) because it helps me to sort out my budget for the year. I can see what figures I want, what figures I possibly want, what figures I don't want or what I possibly don't want etc.

It's cool to budget stuff but it's not a good idea to definitively decide on a purchase at a stage where pictures haven't even been shown yet

I know many people who decide their order on the leak stage, then images trickle out and it turns out underwhelming, but they still stick with the decision to buy one definitively even though it's worse than expected

It is a great budgeting tool but what I meant was when people decide on pu
True but you need to be open to changing your mind when images come out and not be set in your decision that was made based off of text, and not the actual figure itself

I don’t think anyone who budgets based on these leaks is saying or thinks I’m for a fact going to buy everything I’ve budget for a year head without seeing. We know this.

Listings are good for forming a general idea. Like, if I see G1, I can add that to a "possible purchase" list, whereas anything SS that isn't 86, or any beast characters, are instantaneous "nope, saving money."

For example, in 2025 I see SS has Megatron, Galvatron, and Devastator as possibilities for me. Have i committed to them? No, but I know the rest are definite "no"s. The 86 guys will have to be better looking than what I already have. Same deal for Superion in the Generations line.

With leaks, I have some I'm going to buy no matter what, like Skybyte next year.
Depending on how Alpha Trion looks I will consider him.
Leaks are great for budgeting but I always keep in mind things could change or like Target Multipacks, there might be figures I want that don't have listings, like Prototype Tarantulas.

I got a few like this.

Like I’ll grab Solus because as is we’ve never gotten an offical version of her.

And I’ll grab Slipstream because she is my favorite character and I can never have enough.

Yeah, I can see what you're getting at. For me, when I see listings I tend to divide them up into "absolutely" and "maybe". Those are very subject to change, and though I might preorder them, I like to see in-hand reviews. For instance, I thought Skullgrin and Magmatron were "absolutely", until I saw the soft plastic. I ended up cancelling those preorders, but since I had already budgeted for them, I just shifted that over to the next year.

Yep, as long as you don't remain steadfast in an opinion made with limited info

Yeah I *planned* on buying both Sandstorm and Springer, but ended up not liking either on release and declining to purchase them

Hold on - Voyager Armada Red Alert?
    Isn't it the Skids mold?
Is it a new mold, or does it come with minicons (I guess Longarm and Sparkplug)?

why would Armada Red Alert be on the retooled Skids mold that Cannonball is using

Cannonball was originally a redeco of Cybertron Red Alert, and the new Cannonball's retooling is all in that vein

not really; given it's Armada Red Alert, and a Voyager, i'm pretty sure we can confidently say it'll be an entirely new mold
