Yeah. No. I'd rather be actually informed instead of whatever bastard PR Hasbro decides. It doesnt really matter since they don't put up preorders in a timely manner before the figures are out in the wild anyway.

We really haven’t. There’s been leaks for decades, in one form or another. I don’t remember a time in this hobby without them.

yeah like how the star raider pre-orders went up before the usual pulse time at like 9am and ended up with a lot of people not getting them

but sure "wait when things get revealed on their own"

Having leaks is nothing BUT beneficial.

I could name so many reasons why.

Transformers isn't the only Hasbro brand with listing or name leaks like this, we get them for Star Wars and Marvel Legends as well (from Rektangular and Yakface).

Speculating and leaks are honestly a big part of the fun of the hobby for me, and they're just really useful for budgeting and planning purchases. Plus the disappointment of the characters I really want not being in the lineup would hurt way more if I have to wait until the actual reveals to see who's coming than if each wave gets leaked ahead of time.

Yeah whenever I see people here treating leaks like an exclusively Hasbro problem it's like...take a step back. There are leakers dedicated to getting people info on PAW PATROL because there's always clicks in leaks.

I agree. The only time the leaks “steal” the thunder of a reveal is when actual product images are leaked. Otherwise listings and descriptions, just let you know price point and names.

As a new guy, I kinda depend on the leaks to gauge whether or not I should go hunting on the secondary for OOP figures. While most of this stuff is relatively easy to find at or about retail prices, I don't have to tell anyone that this isn't always the case- Spinister, Ramjet, and Cosmos being just a few recent examples.

Beyond that, if it doesn't exist yet, I can take or leave leaks. I like being surprised, but I also appreciate knowing that a character is in the works.

I'm cool with leaks, my only issue is when people decide their purchases based on a leaked listing before ever actually seeing the figure

Otherwise it's nice and these character lists are probably something Hasbro should do as well atp

Well it's better to put some money aside in case you do want it instead of not having that money when the time arrives.

See leaks completely help me decide what I’m going to buy.

I’m a character collector, so “toys” coming out doesn’t interest me, only certain characters do. So leaks allow me to know how much to set aside and what fandom is going to maximize my enjoyment for the current year lol.

Why? What if it’s a character that someone just doesn’t want no matter what they do?

These leaks definitely help me to sort my purchases for the year. There are some refreshes that I know I don’t need, other characters that I have no interest in, and some releases that I can skip in favor of their retools or bundled releases later on. I’m always open to being pleasantly surprised by an excellent rendition of a character that I might otherwise skip, but in general it’s been a fantastic budgeting tool.

How is that an issue? Isn't budgeting good?

Edit: hope that doesn't come across as being argumentative or antagonistic, genuinely curious how that could be a bad thing

Fail to see anything wrong with planning out your budget ahead of time. Plans can change any time as well, none of that is set in stone what we have on our list is what we will actually buy.
