After swapping the old Armada head on my Unicron for a 25th Anniversary one and rebuilding the middle of his chest to be more TFTM accurate, I thought it'd also be cool if his stupid chest missile gimmick was less stupid. I turned the missile into Galvatron's ship, or at least about as close as I could get to it within the limitations of still fitting, firing, and being sturdy enough to not break when launched across the room.
It hurts to get hit with that pointy ship when it shoots now though!

I also took his legs apart to cut grooves in the raised notches that ratchet for his leg articulation at the hips, so his leg articulation is no longer limited to standing straight up with his legs together, or an A-stance. He can do more natural standing poses, as pictured.

All the other stuff done to this figure was done over the last 16 years, since I first got it. I occasionally go back to it.

And after all this, just to fix the one remaining thing I didn't like (his wings flopping back too easily), I added holes for the pegs that hold the planet face panels on to fit into, holding the wings in place in bot mode very well. :)

Holy crap! I just skimmed last time. Went back to it and actually read the description. That ship idea is awesome! Looks good and makes sense! And gets me a good chuckle! Now I want one too!

You just saved me $600. I was on the fence but now I am again perfectly happy with my Energon Unicron...well, maybe after some mods and paint apps ;)

    Excellent work.

It's something I did around 10 years ago. A cut out part of a spray can top, a bit of styrene, and apoxie-sculpt.

Yeah for over $600, I'll definitely just stick with this one! :)  Though I may end up getting that Zeta version.

I also just modified his wings so they stay in place well in bot mode by drilling holes for the pegs that attach to the planet face halves to go into.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I modified the leg joints at the hips so he isn't forced to either be in an A-stance or standing straight up with legs together. Gunna add that stuff to the OP.

This Unicron is really awesome and really great paint apps used and some awesome weathering i think. I also think it's just as good as that $575 version.
