You can’t keep a good thing down, and Transformers has continued to go from strength to strength in 2012. New offshoots of the brand were announced, and with a seemingly assured future for at least a couple more years, and well loved parts of the toy line being extended with very popular additions, Transformers enthusiasts have much to be excited about. On top of that, the appeal of vintage Transformers collecting has grown and the known universe has expanded. But that’s just my opinion… 2012 Highs & Surprise | Source Blog <- CLICK TO READ Again, warning: opinions included! All the best Maz
Just my opinion, but 2012 was a huge disapointment for me - toy wise we saw far fewer releases than we have in a long time, and out of those fewer releases there were few that appealed to me.
Oh I know mate, saw one in person and couldn't put it down. Toy money is totally limited to funds made from selling collection items at the moment though, so if something vintage goes, I can only justify those sales with more vintage purchases. I was hinting for Christmas Lambor but alas, new shoes won. All the best Maz
Great Article. Encore Fort Max was a real shocker for many of us, as despite persistent claims and rumors of High quality KOs that have came and gone over the years no one ever expected Takara to reissue the Ultimate G1 Transformer. Maz I hope you able to nab one before the prices go back up too much.
Nice read. I had no idea the MP Lambo was so small (being out of my price range, I just never payed attention). For that kind of cash, I might as well start collecting Alternities.
As a g1 owner of a mib fort max I really didn't like the fact that the reissue has decreased the value of the og.Now it's bugging me that a rumor of black zarak reissue is in the making.love the article Maz and mp-12 n mp-14 are bur I have yet to pull the trigger because I agree with most that the price range I just not right for a deluxe.
I like to purchase original figures over reissues wherever possible. Currently, Predaking is the only reissue that I own and that was a gift. However, in the case of Fortress Maximus I'm happy to buy the reissue. The cost for a vintage one was just too high for me to be able to justify. I could care less about Scorponok if they make him (as rumored) but I'd definitely be interested in Black Zarak. I can understand the negative feelings that current owners of those figures might have but I'm happy for my own reasons. I'm excited for 2013. MP Soundwave and his cassettes are pre-ordered along with Fortress Maximus. I'm looking forward to rounding out my G1 collection, hunting for more Huffers, and seeing what other Masterpiece figures may be on the way. Kudos to Maz for this article as well as all of the other ones he has written.
I figured I'd need a whole new article to cover all the things that disappointed me about ROTF. Me too, I'll never have a better opportunity. At the moment I'm too busy wasting 100s of Euros on catalogues that don't contain what I was hoping for... Honestly, I am not so sure it would be a bad thing for my collection to plummet in value. In the back of my mind I do always think it's great to have emergency money and if all else fails, sell the collection for a large amount of cash...but I wouldn't ever need to view them as possible cash sources or as things that I might lose if they were much lower in value, and it would stop others from suggesting I should sell them and use the money for better things. If preTFs and valuable G1 weren't worth so much, folks wouldn't be trying to rip off others to the tune of a few grand either. All the best Maz
