I noticed this from the display at Botcon, but haven't noticed it being discussed so thought I'd start a new thread.

The Optimus in the PE Voyager 2 pack that's been showing up in some Asian countries is the one in the promo pics with the faceplate, the totally red chest and unpainted black rims:


But the one shown on display at Botcon had the non-faceplate head, the stripe on the chest like the Autobots United figure and has silver paint on the rims:


So, is this going to be a running change or could they be two different exclusives for different stores?

 

Well we'll have at least two ways of getting the faceplated head in the US.

The evolutions pack with classics Optimus. And the Autobot platinum Five pack.

Not sure if the rusty prime from the platinum FArmageddon pack has it.

 

I'm not entirely sure how much I trust Hasbro's loose display case figures from BotCon to be representative of the actual product.

For instance, the robot mode Hot Shot/"Tracks" had a flame decal on the bonnet not present on the stock photos or loose vehicle mode sample.

And the early pictures we got of the case showed a DOTM Crankcase standing in for the Breakout Battle set's Vehicon (although the loose figures for Breakout Battle seem to have been removed by the time the room was opened to general attendees).

 

The display figures in conventions can sometimes be hand-painted customs. These are either samples of the intended deco, or made spiffier to draw more attention. (The latter is also sometimes used for the rather deceptive box art pieces we see often.) It's quite possible they took a standard, underpainted, first-release AoE Evasion Prime and repainted.

That aside, is there an ETA on the Evo Prime 2-Pack? I really don't want to miss the set...

 

Nope. I don't think it's even been announced through any official avenue - we learned about it through a TRU employee's investigation, and got images via that 'Transformers Colombia' Facebook fan-page.

 

Is that first Evasion Prime the one that comes with Platinum Grimlock? I thought it was supposed to get a US release. Anyone know if it indeed will?

 

I just thought it was notable as it was on display after the figure's already been produced and made available (though, in all fairness, not in the US yet).

 

The TF promo booklet that TRU have in store in the UK says Serptember for Optimus, this month for all the other Evolution packs.
