1. Is there any point in buying this game if you aren't going to connect with anyone else? 2.Why does the Wii version have a different name?
1 - Well, it's a good game, but if you're only playing the campaign in solo, then I'd say give it a rental. It's short. Multiplayer's is half the game. 2 - Well, it's not the very same game for what I gather. The mechanics are different, as well as the levels. And I think it was mentioned that it sounded more familiar.
The single player campaign is pretty solid. I definitely see myself replaying it several more times The Wii version is a totally different game. It alternates between an on-rails shooter and a driving game. You don't have any say whether you transform or not or where to run to.
It seems more and more like the Wii version is a waste...... Oh well, I guess I'll have to rent it to know for sure....
Honestly, if you won't be able to play online, this is not the best way to spend $60. All that is available is solo campaign, which while very good isn't really worth that much money. You could try your hand at Escalation but even a good player wouldn't last that long on his own. So for one game mode... I'd say just rent it.
It was a rental for me. I got tired of spending $60 on games and beating t6hem in a few days (or less if it's my day off). As far as online multi-player, I'm really into it. As for the Wii game having a different title, it's because it's a different game, though I'm not sure if it's a different story or not.
I didn't find the story mode to be short. It was long and I liked it. Buy the game. The storymode is awesome. Online is fun but riddled with some bugs and what not. This game is not a waste.
Just to clarify: I have a Nintendo Wii and a DS. Those are the only options I've got to work with, since I've no desire to buy a new system.
Given that all you have is the Wii, I would say rent it. But I would also say invite a friend over and do co-op, because that's the one saving grace of the Wii game. Other than the fact that it is Transformers, of course. If your PC can run it, I would say get the PC version. That way you don't have to buy a new system, and you still get the High Moon developed game. In it, multiplayer is balls out awesomeness; I have some connectivity problems occasionally, but the key to that is you effin' leave the game and find another one when the connection is laggy. When I do that, I always end up finding a good host and it's damn fun, and challenging.
