    But if he did... imagine.

Flames on the saucer and nacelles, perfect for childhood raping!

    NICE!

Not sure why they didn't have the lettering follow the circumferential curve of the saucer, though.

to match the original, the original Enterprise, the name of the ship was straight across and the registry number (NCC-1701) was curved to match the saucer

Possible that the plating is painted before being moved into the vacuum of space.

I thought the same thing about the bussard collectors. I think both versions of the Enterprise from TOS had a visible spinning effect in those. I'm curious as to how they'll handle the backs of the nacelles. In the series they seemed to freely switch between having horizontal stripes/slots and being solid with dome like shapes sticking out of them.

Teaser trailer should be on Cloverfield, if rumors are correct.

My theory has been blown out of the water. I've seen a description of the teaser, and it seems that the Enterprise is being built on Earth. So, we're back to concurrent painting and construction, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

If true, it's a retcon, as the Enterprise was built in Earth orbit in supplemental materials to TOS. I can live with that.

After all, Zefram Cochrane was originally from Alpha Centauri in TOS, but was moved to Earth to, well, give Earth and Humanity importance in First Contact.

hmmm...... that's a big change, since all of the Enterprises (Enterprii?) have been built in space. not like this one is the first starship ever. and yeah, i work for a shipyard, and they build the whole ship and then paint it. certainly wouldn't paint details like the name while its being built cuz you'd destroy the paint when you welded to it. i'm hoping hoping that this is just a promo thing to get people excited and has no bearing on the actual movie (if you remember your Trek, the Enterprise had already had a distinguished career before Kirk came aboard)

In TOS the cells had that sort of rotating/ flickering effect in them, maybe that’s what’s going on.

I was expecting some POS "changes" due to Orci and Kurzman(the "we love Transformers but seem to despise 90% of what it was- mass shifting, subspace, car part bodies, voices" duo) being the writers, but it's pretty spot on.
