In the 1985 Transformers range, the new Minibots (Beachcomber, Cosmos, Powerglide, Seaspray and Warpath) are unique in that they are completely new figures, rather than licenced re-releases of Japanese toys.

So are these the first Transformers that were specifically intended for the Transformers line, or are they just Takara pre-Transformers that never saw release in their original form (like the original Scramble City guys)?

For than matter, what's the origin of the coneheads' newly-moulded wings? Who designed Ramjet, Thrust and Dirge? Again, were the modifications done specifically for Transformers or was it an unreleased Diaclone concept?

    Thanks in advance!

The 85 jets were made for the tf line. As far as the 85 minibots, I'm not entirely sure.

To my knowledge, the '85 minibots were new molds specifically made for the TF line. The planes, while sharing the same Diaclone body mold, had their accessories updated. Also, I don't think it's ever been proven that Astrotrain was going to be part of the Diaclone line, but he most likely was.
