for 80s cartoons it was good. I wouldn't say it was the best tf series though.
There really hasn't been a better one since the original that is for sure.
G1 was the best toy commercial i can think of. as for plot? well it was rather crap honestly, only very few eps where great to watch. shows like Robotech, Thundercats and Battle of the Planets was better story wise.
so no, no amens.
huh? have you watched thundercats recently? its crap!
G1 is the best TF series (this is coming from a 13 yr old ) I mean it's awesome PERIOD.
Seriously! There's actually a groundskeeper guy at my college who will greet you with a "Amen, amen! Uh-huh, what a beautiful day it is!"
Anyways... I can't help it, but G1 was definitely the best of the 80s. Voltron was good too... but G1 is much more memorable.
It is awesome just to see that 13 yr olds like G1.
I need to go visit that college. That is too funny.
You are officially awesome in my book and I totally agree.
The original cartoon is all good!
yeah what the heck... AMEN!! (too early in the morning to be objective about the quality of TV cartoons)
80's TF cartoons
The 80's TF cartoons where the orginal and best .Can't beat them really!!
An Amen is an Amen no matter how you spell it.
Well, I loved the cartoon when I was 6 years old. Now I'm 27, and I think they are lame compared to other thing I've seen, such as some Gundam shows, Aquarion, among others.
After watching some Animated on rerun as I'm also watching the three seasons of Beast Wars, I've come to the conclusion that Animated is basically Beast Wars with vehicle forms and humans walking around. The same set up on Prime being inexperienced, only half the team wanting to listen to him. Lugnutz is basically BW Scorponok in personality, and of course there's the campy comedy, which G1 never really had. No BOINK!!! No characters smashed flat against a rock, and peeling off like paper. The only thing EITHER series has on G1 is that they develop the characters as they go, whereas G1 shows people who have already accepted their roles as soldiers and leaders.
That being said, no series touches G1. Period.
Funny I just got done watching the first three episodes not 20 minutes ago. Haha!
For an old cartoon series, it still kinda holds up little.
I would be incline to say that, often, the original and first in everything could be perceived as the best. For the sole reason that it hasn't been done before.
That's exactly what happened to me 24 years ago when the Transformers G1 aired for the first time. I clearly remember holding my breath each ime a NEW Transformer was showing up, because I was having the toy representing the character, so...
One quality 80's cartoons had back then, IMHO, was the music and sound editing. Especially, in Transformers. Apart the legendary Intro Theme everybody knows, there was some awesome background music there.
I still love watching G1 episodes...even though many of them had some, err, weak or weird script.
You sure you want to visit my college? It's just your average community college...
